Any of you guys have any luck against a new 5.0s? A Buddy just got one and he hung my 10' out to dry lol what mods would I need to atleast keep up with him? Cause I'm tired of him giving me crap! Lol

i had a chick in a '10 try and race me yesterday.. when we stopped at the next stop sign, she asked me why i didnt race her... Told her not much of a race when I knew what the out come would be..

To the OP for you to beat a new 5.0 you're gonna need a blower. Bone stock they are at more than a 100 hp advantage to you.
With a blower that equals out... but then of course if your buddy added a tune you might still be on the losing end of the battle... depending on your driving ability and how much boost you're running.
A guy in a new CS raced me one night... he was, shall we say, VERY surprised at the outcome... you never know what someone has underneath their hood

See my engine and drivetrain mods to be competitive--right there with a stock 5.0. Add stage II heads for a decent advantage. Or go supercharged. I regularly beat stock 5.0 Mustangs on the street--but not by much. Keep in mind around 150 lbs. of weight reduction helps too. I'd love to drop a 5.0 coyote motor in my car, and mod it similarly. Of course this motor wasn't in production when I had already done most of my mods, but that's progress. Sometimes it's a slap to the face, lol.

Ha, I've beaten two 5.0s, one from a dig and one from a roll. Mods are bolt ons, tune, driver mod. The one from a roll, probably didn't know what he was doing, the one from a digg had some sort of pipe, shut it down around 80. Gave him a nice surprise. Flame on, but anything can happen on the street. Very capable engine, but hate how cocky they can be, in a bone stock car.

When I ordered/bought this car, I knew I was buying something quick/fast, but something that's still slower than a LOT of cars out there, and MUCH slower than SOME cars out there ... lol
I bought it to enjoy it for myself, not to race everybody in their Escorts/whatever ... and now with the single powertrain mod done so far, the GT500 mufflers, I enjoy it THOROUGHLY every time I get to drive it ... and at a little over 2,000 miles in about 26 days, I guess I am driving it a "tad" ... lol
As a matter of fact, I can't wait to drive it again
