Is it just me or does the stock exhaust get louder and louder? I have a little less than 9,000 miles on mine now and it sounds way more agressive than it did when I first got it.
Or am I hearing things?

I know the aftermarket chambered exhaust gets louder in the frist week or two. I've heard the "straight through" design does also. I don't see why the stock exhaust wouldn't, but I would have thought it would be sooner than 9K miles.

I did not realize how loud it was until I had to pick my wife up. I was having trouble finding the house she was at. She said she tought she heard something. So I reved the engine. She heard me and guided me to the house. Found out I was a couple blocks away.
Poor neighbors, it was 2 am.

I think the exhaust does sound better with time, When I was leaving the bar Sat night a guy admired the car and when I fired her up, he said wow, ya got Flowmasters on there. He didn't believe me that it was totally stock, except for CAI. As I thought about it, I realized that the car is sounding more throaty and has a nice growl.

When I put my CAI on the sound definitely changed. The problem with the sound changing is that it makes you want MORE

Mine sure seems louder to me too. I just got back from a 1100 mile trip and noticed it as soon as I got back home last Wednesday.
I removed my HC trap about 2000 miles ago too.

Thats funny, a buddy of mine mentioned to me just the other day that my car is getting louder now. He use to know I was coming down his road by the sound, now he knows when I am in his neighborhood. LOL
I also get a lot of the “no way that is the stock exhaust”. Same reaction when the shaker goes bump.

You're not hearing things, Dustin. Mine is definitely louder at 3000 miles than it was new. I wouldn't have noticed had I not recently listened to a friends new GT. Her car was much quieter and less raspy than mine. It shouldn't make a difference that hers is an auto and mine a manual, right? She also doesn't drive hers like it's stolen.
Now that I have the JLT CAI, XCAL2 93 tune and the 4.10's, it's right about where I like it.
