The distributors are making a real killing on these Champion 7989 spark plugs. While I was doing a search on the web I ran into a wholesale site and the distributor cost per plug is $5.10. I have seen them retail at $16.23 to $22.00 per plug. Hopefully they will come down.

Does anyone know if the Brisk plugs that are rated for under 450HP will work on a N/A engine? Or are they mainly for FI cars?

I just cannot understand why more companies are not making a one piece design. Companies Like Denso and NGK

Richard,

I just spoke with Steve from Steeda Autosports, and asked him that very same question on Friday.

His response, was the Brisk plugs that are rated up to 450 HP, will work fine for N/A applications. However the ones that are rated at 450 HP and above, are recommended for FI applications only.

Steeda also carries them in stock for $16.95 ea. Anyway, hope you'll find this as useful.

Scott, ever since the horror stories began with these P.O.S two piece designed OEM plugs. I've also had a very close eye on both the Brisk plugs, and Champions as well.

And if Ford doesn't come out with a new one piece designed plug, by the time I'm due for a spark plug change. There going to be happening here too !

I also had the chance to check Brenspeed's website, and although his prices are cheaper than Steeda's. It appears that he only carries the Brisk plugs for FI applications. Where as Steeda carries both N/A and FI versions in stock.

FYI - Summit Racing (.com) has the Champion 7989 for $4.95 each. You have to call - they're not listed yet on the website because they won't be in stock for another 2-3 weeks. But you can still call and order them. My total was just under $50 for 8 plugs.

Guys one question OEM Motorcrafts are 0,054 gap and Champions 0,045 will that have any negative influence on installed performance tunes in our cars???. I have got K&N 91 Octane Fuel Performance Tune from Superchips.

The Champs are standard style plugs so you can re-gap them to whatever you want, you don't need a special tool like you do with the OEM plugs.

Can you please provide a link to this deal? I just searched Summit's website and reviewed over 50 pages of parts for the 2005-2008 Mustang and did not see them listed. Please help us!!

They're not listed online yet, you need to call to order. I ordered mine today and I should have them the first week in May, plus a $2 a plug rebate. http://www.alwaysachampion.com/pdfs/ChampRbt_0305.pdf

I also placed an order with Summit. Good read about this issue and I figured I would jump on the bandwagon as well. Summit said that the plugs were on backorder and would be available sometime late in April. $49 and change for 8 plugs.

Scott, although the article doesn't cover the Brisk 3v spark plug. At least we have a much better understanding of their superior quality, when compared to OEM Motorcraft plugs.

So yes, I definitely found the article as very interesting. In the meantime, I'm still debating over the Brisk plugs, and the Champions. Especially if their going to be available through Summit Racing for $ 4.95 ea. For that price, you just can't beat it.

However I'll have to see it, before I believe it.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, well I'll have to get a few more at that price!

My car has been idling like crap lately, I think some of the anti seize dripped down on the electrodes or something. I'm going to pull them all tonight and check em out.
