Had some fun Sat & Sunday night.
I drove 150 miles Saturday night. No destination in mind. I just drove. Found some great twisty roads, some nice empty tree lined roads, and a park called Independence Dam. The park stretches a couple miles down the Maumee River, and it was almost empty. I drove slowly down the narrow two-lane road that was made narrower by trees. I stopped a couple times to take pictures. It was pretty fun. (The pictures of the road below are of the road leading to the park, not in the park.)
I didn't really tear it up . . . I saved that for Sunday. Highlight of the trip was a short run at 120 mph down a country road. Man, this car is soooo nice at that speed. Feels more like 80. On the way back home a bird flew out from a tree on the side of the road, turned right into my path, and just clipped it's wings on my roof. It literly scared the poo out of it . . . onto my windshield. Maybe it did it to gain altitude quicker?
Then, Sunday night after a family get-together for Dad's Day, my crazy brother and I went to an empty parking lot, and enjoyed the lovely sounds of my Bassani's. It was the first time I've heard them outside the car. Wow . . . that's all I can say. No wonder I have gotten so many compliments. We also tore up and down a really twisty road behind the parking lot. It was open enough to watch for traffic, but was strangely twisted for a residential street. It's like the road crew was just stupid drunk when they did it.
The handling of the car is incredible. It cornered so flat it's amazing. We never really reached the limits, because neither of us have the guts, or experience. I did get a taste of the edge. I went way to hot into the last corner, and a car was coming from the other way. I wanted to get slowed down before the car got near, but was going faster than I thought, and the corner was sharper than I remembered. I drove in so deep that under the hard braking the left front wheel started to lock up, but the ABS keep it gripping pretty well, and the ABS did not change the way the car felt. I was VERY impressed by it.
Sorry this got so long, just wanted to share my story. FYI: The video is shot using my digital still camera. I'm going to start using an actual video camera from now on. No more crappy quality. So, anybody else just go for a long drive to nowhere?
