THis is an old thread, but I was interested in the manifold for my 07GT. MMFF did some dyno's on multiple combinations.

I graphed them in Excel, and with just the FRPP intake manifold, there was a loss of about 20 ft-lb of torque in various RPMs below 5000 RPM. The HP gains were minimal about 7-10 hp above 5000 RPM. It looked like the intake manifold by itself isn't all that great below 5000 RPM.

Looking at the other tests they ran, the best overall combo was Test 7. It provided minimal losses below 5000 RPM and lots of gains above 5000 RPM. They said it was the FRPP Stage 3 CNC heads with the Hot Rod camshafts and the stock intake manifold. Doing some rough math, the engine only gains about 40 hp with Setup 7.

Lots of good info here:

They used an engine dyno, so the drivetrain doesn't become a factor. I know they still had praises for the FRPP intake manifold after Setup 8 was finished, but looking at the graph, the low end losses and the high end gains don't justify it IMHO unless you spend a lot of time above 6000 RPM.
Setup 7 seems like the most optimal because of the bigger area under the curves, and Setup 7 did not involve the FRPP intake manifold.

Yep, I will soon get the ported heads, intake, the camshaft and some headers. I'm staying all NA and all Ford parts, wish Ford would sell this as 1 good priced package with the camshaft already installed. That would be a dream!

And yes, maybe the intake is not really needed.

With cams the intake is good for 20hp 20tq over the delete plates. I've seen the sheet.

MMFF tested the 4.6 3V with 8 different combinations, and the best one was the one without the FRPP intake: http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...g/viewall.html

There was significant drop in sub-5k power and torque even with the 3 Stage CNC heads and Hot Rod Cams with more gains in 6000-6500+ RPM. The way I see it, unless your engine is going to stay operating in the 6000+ RPM range, the FRPP intake isn't that great of a mod. Look at the link above, Setup 7 is the engine with the FRPP heads and FRPP hot rod cams. Setup 8 is the engine with the FRPP heads/cams/intake. I plotted the data in Excel and looked at the area under the curves and not just the peak values. Setup 7 is worth about +40 hp over stock.
