Intake vs CMDPs

I wanna get a couple more bolt ons before I get dynotuned. Maybe a throttlebody, definitely an intake or CMDPs. I know the intake will delete the charge motion plates but is there any real gain from the intake otherwise? Just trying to determine whether it's worth the extra $350. Thanks guys

If I remember correctly, you have cams installed on your car right? If so I think you can probably expect a gain from the combo of the cams and intake working together (I think). Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's the best way to maximize gains with cams. The only other piece would be the heads which can be a pretty expensive route as a Bolton

Yea I have cams and full exhaust. I'm just not sure how much better the flow will be with a whole new intake compared to just getting the delete plates, which from what I understand get rid of the majority of the resistance (the butterflies in the stock plate). But you're right, the better the cams breathe the better they work.

If you have cams and long tube headers, you'll see a really nice gain from the intake vs. the CMDP's.

I just got one for $475 from somebody on another forum I'm on. That's what they normally go for. C&L's go for about the same.

MMFF tested the 4.6 3V with 8 different combinations, and the best one was the one without the FRPP intake:
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...g/viewall.html

There was significant drop in sub-5k power and torque even with the 3 Stage CNC heads and Hot Rod Cams with more gains in 6000-6500+ RPM. The way I see it, unless your engine is going to stay operating in the 6000+ RPM range, the FRPP intake isn't that great of a mod. Look at the link above, Setup 7 is the engine with the FRPP heads and FRPP hot rod cams. Setup 8 is the engine with the FRPP heads/cams/intake. I plotted the data in Excel and looked at the area under the curves and not just the peak values. Setup 7 is worth about +40 hp over stock. But that convinced me not to consider the FRPP intake.
