Electric Cutouts
Hey guys, I was thinking of getting electric cutouts on my mustang just before the cats, like these http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm What do you think? Will it void my warrenty?
I like it because I can go from loud with my SLPs, to freakin insane with the cutout open right after the headers, bypassing the cats and everything (not on the street of course
).
Has anybody done anything like this? Thoughts? Potential Probs?

yep, probably won't pass inspection, but it sure looks cool. If you did put it before the cats though, I would think you would have to disable your 02 senors to avoid the CEL light comming on when you opened the valves up.
On the other hand for the guys who are looking for the loud exhaust sound without sacrificing annoying road/exhaust noise on the highway. This might be the setup. If you installed those right before your mufflers it would be basically a muffler delete. You could just simply close the valve and basically be all stock in an exhaust sense. I think with the valves open though, it would be louder than the SLP Loudmouth, because it looks like the ports are pointing directly down which would echo the sound off of the ground.

You will never get your car tuned right if you run a cut out. It will run lean when you open it and rich when you close it. Talk about check engine lights. The 05's are not like the old fox body's or LS1 cars. You will have nightmares if you buy cut outs!

You got a point there Turbo, that is if you put the cut outs just after the headers.
I think you would be fine if you put them aft of the cat's though.
Well the whole point would be because we arent allowed to have off road pipes in california..... so you think this would pass the smog test? even with them closed?
And if I put them after the cats, thats pretty much the same as my loudmouths, right?
