Hi Guys,
Want to throw out a question to the SCT XCAL-2 users. Have you tried to use any of your adjustable parameters yet and do they work as they should? Tell you why I ask. I have a SCT XCAL-2 from Lidio @ Alternate Automotive that I received in early Nov. I have NO ISSUE with Lidio's tune - I think it is awesome. But the other nite I wanted to turn my traction control off and it didn't work. So I called Lidio to try and figure out what I did wrong and he told me that SCT has issues with the adjustable parameters and the TCS is just one of them. It does not work. Anyone else found this out?? I am not qualified to make any kind of changes to the tune of my car but I thought I could at least turn off the TCS. What gives??

I've got into mine to access RPM and speed limit, rear gear ratio, etc. That's when modifying an existing tune though, never by itself. Don't know how it works with the canned tune.

Shouldn't something like turning off the TCS be possible outside of any canned tune?? For instance if I changed my rear gear today and wanted to adjust the speedo for the new gears why would that be any issue? I could see there being a problem if I was trying to adjust the fuel or spark curve. How about you guys with Doug's from Bama's tuner- ever try any of the adjustable parameters? How about you Don W.?

I tried a couple times when I first got it a few months ago and I couldn't adjust anything using the handheld unit. The only way I could make changes was to modify the .xtr file directly in Xtreme Tune, and reload it to the X2. But, I don't even mess with it now. If I need a change, I send Doug an e-mail and he e-mails me a revised tune.

It seems you may have answered my question. It doesn't work!!!

Can you still turn the TCS off and on from inside the car like stock? This feature is not something I want to lose by installing a tune.

If you turn it off with the tuner, you have to turn it back on that way. It's either all the way off, or you can leave it stock so you can turn it on and off.

i had mine done by lidio--he was out of the SCT2 but i didn't want to come back so I ok'd the Xcal---and my TCS is off, works great---although once you turn it off, no turning on sporadically---as far as the SCT2, not really sure you need that level of customization if your mods are to be minor---

Patience,
You say your TC is off and have the XCAL and not the XCAL2 unit. How is this possilbe? There was not end user adjustablility with that unit. Did Lidio turn it off for you in his program? I guess if they are going to advertise all of this adjustability then I want it to work as advertised. So the question remains in my mind - does SCT have an issue with this feature on their XCAL-2 model?

I just happened to be reading this on sctflash, maybe the tuner is using the x1 software for the x2?
SCT Xtreme Tune Software:
Application: 9100, 9300 & 9400 Flash Devices ONLY
This is our older software, that allows on PC adjustments to XTR files for your Xcalibrator 1,2 or 9100 tuner. Note, you must start with the *.XTR file from your dealer, make changes in this software, and then program the final custom tune back to your flash device. If you use Xtreme Tune to make adjustments to your tune, you will lose the On Device adjustability if the Xcalibrator 2 was equipped. Primarily designed for the 9100 and 9300 tuners, but will work on the 9400 as well.

I guess I don't know what to say. Lidio @ Alternate Automotive is solely a SCT dealer and sells both the X1 and XCAL -2 tuners. I would think he is loading them with the proper tune. What I am not sure about is when you get his customized canned tune for the C&L intake and auto trans if is somehow messing up the end user adjustability. I have no way of knowing that. But when I talked with him earlier this week, he seems pretty sure that SCT was having issues with things not working correctly with their XCAL-2 units.

My guess is Lidio locks them up to prevent anyone from copying his tune which is OK with me but if he has locked it up where I can't make gear and tire size changes then I am highly pissed.

Hey Bill,
I believe you are running Lidio's tune also. Have you tried to turn off your TCS yet to see if it works? I would be interested in knowing .

All I have done is to load his tune.

Me too! Until the other day when I tried to turn off the TCS. Not sure what to think. It's not like I am going to tweek every aspect of the car. But I would like to think I could do a couple of simple things.
