given the amount of blown 05 Ponies going kaboom lately, I'm starting to shift my thinking towards a beefed-up crate motor, which would already put out more power, and then still have the option to supercharge later.

Are these motors a viable option? I don't claim to be very knowledgeable on the subject, so looking for advice...

None of the motors on that page are modular so it would take many cubic feet of money to put one in your Mustang. But if you have big bucks, try this crate motor from Ford.

I agree... trying to put a pushrod motor into a 99.99% computer-controlled modular environment would be a serious project.

How many have you heard of? I've only heard of 5. Four of them were centrifugals running like 12 lbs of boost and the other one was Don's which was a fluke (completely blocked exhaust pipe).

Sorry, just trying to combat some of the recent paranoia...

Anyways, MMR makes a shortblock for our cars. It's $2700 and uses and iron block.

I'm currently getting pricing from JDM on strengthening my rotating assembly. Hopefully it will be cheap since my goals are very modest...

 

$17k for a crate motor, including the computer and harness, is a steep sum. It is hard to knock a turbo or a supercharger for the hp for the buck.
