The MAF we have has six wires going to it. Four of the wires are for the MAF and the other two are for the ACT. They are both housed in the same unit. So when you pull your MAF out to swap it over, your also swapping your ACT as well.

Now..if U wanted to upgrade to a SCT 90mm MAF, you would only use four wires for the MAF, and have to locate (purchase) the ACT in the inlet tube. Just like the old school style ACT in older years. This is what the computer is reading, its accurate.

As for the stock box taking a long time to cool down. It doesnt surprise me. Think about how much heat is generated and just rising to the top of the engine bay(hood closed). There's such a bad supply of fresh air where the "stock" box is, it has no choice but to suck up all that hot air. Then eventually as testing showed, the cooler air fills the engine bay.

I can't do much with mine yet either as the replacement WMS ram-air plate hasn't arrived and I am still working on the MAF wire extension so everything else is sitting in the boxes. And not to hijack the thread, but I was surprised when Shannon at WMS told me he had those filters custom made.

Im not surprised the filters are a custom piece. with the limited space we have there, it needed one. Good design for sure, im very happy with everything. Hope U get your replacement real quick.
And in a few weeks, we will have the Outerwear pre-filters available...in colors as well

Well, I got of my hiney and finally figured out how to datalog with my Xcal2. Let me say, it's really easy. Only took a few minutes to hook it all up and get it going, piece of cake.

So, now for the JLT CAI numbers:

1) Setup: Everyone datalog vehicle speed, outside air temperatue and inlet air temperatue.

87 F outside air temperature

2) Warm the car up completely for at least 15 minutes driving were you want and how you want.
did that

3) Data log the car at idle for at least 4 minutes (like you are sitting at a long light)
IAT got up to 143F and still climbing

4) Data log the car at 30 mph after at least 1 minute to let temps stabalize
Went from 143 to 115F after a minute, then pretty much stabilized around 115, tried several times, got the same result each time.

5) Data log the car at 60 mph after at least 1 minute to let temps stabalize
Went from 134F to 99F, and pretty much stayed around 99F. Noticed when I got behind a truck and had to slow down to 55, went up to 105F almost immediately and stayed there.

So, pretty much sucks in all kind of hot air at a stand still, but cools off fairly well after a minute, and seems to suck in more cool air than stock box at 30mph.

Good job Hatchman! It looks like the JLT does cool off a lot quicker than the stock box, but it still has the heat soak issues (your 4 minutes at idle are right in line with my results at the 4 minute mark).

So who is next? WMS? C&L? MMR?

Id say these numbers are excellent considering i got within 1.2°F within ambient temperature numerous times.

I just got the X-2 installed on Sunday, so I haven't had a chance to learn how to datalog yet. I was going to figure it out and do my C&L+shaker this weekend, but it doesn't look like I need to now.

u got temperatures below the ambient temperature? im sorry im not telling you you are lying but i find that incredibly hard to believe

Great post 94tbird! It definitely looks like th C&L beats stock hands down for temperature control. It appears to cool off quite a bit quicker as well, which suggests to me it is pulling cooler air from somewhere.

Now we need at least one WMS, MMR and a K&N to round out the mix (yes, I know there are more intakes than that on the market! All are welcome and all are desired!)

Keep in mind that he is getting his weather information for a weather station and then driving around for an hour. Temps can change pretty quick.

I wish that our cars had an outside air temperature sensor as well. That would make it much easier to fully compare the air temperature rise at a give point in the data log.

And frankly, I'm not as interested in absolue numbers (are any of these air temp sensors NTSI traceable? I doubt it...) as how the temperatures change in the different conditions. In general, you will find that the temperature sensors on our car are a lot more precise (able to tell the difference between one temperature and another) than they are accurate (being able to tell you WHAT a given temperature is).

no i know and im not calling him a liar by any means but if the air outside is lets say 80 degrees i cant see how the car could intake air at 78 degrees per say. it jsut doesnt make sense. it would seem that the best temp you can hope for is exactly ambient temperature no?
