In car video of our 2006 4.0 v6 with Pypes X pipe and Midpipe with Stock GT mufflers.

The muffler on the passenger side has been on for quite a while (maybe 100k miles) and we just now added the other one by using the pypes system (minus their muffles).

I live in England and I've just joined. I have a new-in-box QTP cut-out which I want to fit to my '06 GT, but I don't want to spoil the interior of the car with the switch. I was thinking of using the cruise +/- controls on the steering wheel (and not having cruise), but I don't have a wiring diagram. Does anyone know any details of how/where I could access the relevant wires without unnecessarily removing the steering wheel?

Flowmasters / Fox body sound

Looking for info on how to get the sound of what I believe is flow masters on Fox body Mustangs. I hear them go by and the sound is amazing. I have flow masters on my big block Impala, so I know what they sound like.

But all the aftermarket stuff for the S197 just replaces the stock muffler in the stock location. Seems like the way to get the sound I am looking for is to have a mid-mount (under body) muffler. Does anyone make that?

Please direct me to any links discussing this.

Well, on the one hand, there's no replacement for displacement.. and it can be tough to make our 4.6s sound like a 5.0.. But, I would start with something like a flowmaster AT classic axleback teamed with a MAC prochamber O/R H pipe. The prochamber has a sort of muffler instead of the normal H pipe and I think will give you more of that "mid muffler" sound you're looking for when paired with flowmasters at the back.

That combo might drone pretty good though...

Mid mounting the mufflers won't change the sound you get out of it

I say start with some long tube headers along with some high flow cats with xpipe. If you have some spare cash someone here on TMS is selling a set of cams. Then look at some mufflers/catback.

That's completely incorrect.

I've witnessed the difference and so has Mr Roush.

OK...but that is not the case. You are looking at this wrong. To do a back to back comparo - it needs to be the same muffler in two different locations. The Roush kit your showing is simply a set of resonators to cut down on drown while maintaining the tone.

Agreed -

A few years ago I thought I saw someone (I thought it was FlowMaster) making a system with a mid-mount muffler. I would expect this setup to sound like the old style exhaust systems. I have FlowMasters on my 454 Impala, and they sound great. I would love to get the same sound for my '05. I did cut the factory mufflers open on my '05 and removed all the baffles. They are completely hollow. And they don't sound bad.

Made this quick video of the magnaflow axlebacks on my car today...

I know they're not as loud as some prefer, but the tone is so much better than stock which is was I going for. I have about 200 miles on them so far and they have got louder and deeper than when they were just installed.

You really need decent speakers though or that video sounds like crud.

Two quick videos of my "hollow" mufflers...

And a rear facing camera - better sound.

Anyone here running this Roush exhaust? Is it really drone free?

I'm running FRPP Stingers now and would like just a little bit more aggressive and I'm thinking these just may be the ticket.

Need help: Borla long tube & x-pipe instal

Need a bit of help. I have a 2008 GT and I'm installing Borla's off-road long tube headers and their x-pipe. I've consulted with Borla, with plenty of pix, on the ill-fitting pieces. In short, the headers mount up with a 20 1/2" inner gap, but the x-pipe's inner gap is 19 5/8". One cannot flex and bend your way onto the header collectors. Borla recognized the issue and said their engineers said it was a faulty part and sent a new entire kit. Re-did the instal and have the same exact measurements and problem.

I'm willing to assume for a moment that the problem is me. Anyone had this issue? Anyone got tips on adjustment? The x-pipe is all one piece, so no joints to adjust. The headers only move so much. The x-pipe is also too long for Borla's "rear" kit (mid-pipes and stinger mufflers). I don't mind cutting those, but really? At any rate, cannot get x-pipe on the **** car. Any help would be great.
