I was wondering how the jba axle backs sound in comparison to others. Are they louder than the pypes mufflers or how do they compare to others out there? Thanks? Its kinda hard to tell from sound bytes some times.

In a thread called "quiet axle-backs" which was lost, someone posted a vid of JBA axle-backs w/an x-pipe. Too bad the link is gone, it sounds really good.

Kooks LT's + FR-500 Mufflers

I can't seem to get a vid up and running, but I installed a set of the FR-500 (KR) axle backs over Labor Day. I have Kooks LT's and their X-pipe. All I can say is my neighbors are looking at me with a . I cranked it up around 12:15 AM (cold start) after I put them on. It sounds like a frigging race car now. The next day my next door neighbor said, did you hear that a-hole last night revving his motor...I said, no

they do sound good, I have checked out a vid or two. They almost sound as loud as the pypes, hopefully they are not. I'll know next week some time the jba's should be at my house then.

My neighbors hate me. I drive real slow through the neighborhood but the highway is real close by and they can hear me on the highway headed home.

Guess it's to long ago to edit, but I made a new one since the SC adds a little extra oomph!

Usual setup is Pype's offroad X, factory headers, and GTA's with 5spd(4.10's).. I like the idle but has the annoying trumpets and a weird sound between gears sometimes, best I can describe is a "Bllaaaaaat". I temporarily put the factory midpipe back on, waaaay too quiet but slightly liking the lack of trumpets/between gear sound... soo...

Would an offroad H trumpet with GTA's? (is there a power diff between offroad H & X?)

Anyone have a clip of offroad X, with GTA's and resonators welded in?

What about power diff with welded in Highflow Cats, will that control the trumpets but still give me some sound back?

One more option, what about the Offroad X with the factory mufflers, will that trumpet?

'06 GT, no drone?

I've began the process of modding my Redfire, and I have started looking about an aftermarket sound. At the moment, I don't want to mod my entire exhaust system, but just get a stock axle back.

I've watched countless clips on YouTube, read this entire thread, and posted in several forums, all to no avail. I can't decide what I want.

Drone is a major issue for me. This car is my DD, and I have three hour trips back from college at least once a week. I can handle a little drone; I listen to my music pretty loud at times. I just do not want to have to talk unnaturally loud to a passenger.

If on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being having to yell to be heard, I want something with a drone of about three or less.

I've heard excellent things about Bassani and Corsa, but Corsa seems a little expensive for me. I'm wanting to get the axle back for under $600.

Any suggestions?

I have enjoyed my Ford Racing GTA's. Have had them on for 3 1/2 years.
Great sound that improves with age and no drone.
Ninos has them for $500.

Thanks for the reply RCW. I understand the GTAs are basically the pipes that come stock on the GT500s. I would like something a bit more for that price. $500 is quite a bit to just put on stock pipes from a 500. I definitely haven't ruled out the GTAs though.

Player,

I understand. I did not pay near that much for mine, back then.

Its been a while since Ive posted (YEARS I think ), but figured Ide share what the BEST exhaust system Ive had to date (my opinion of course).
I had Borla stingers with factory mid-pipe. Sounded good.
I had Bassani High flow comp catted X-pipe with stingers. Sounded better
I had O/R Bassani x-pipe with stingers. LOUD! (good thing) but trumpets got old quick.
Then I got creative and cut the factory H-pipe right before the factory cats. I flared the ends where I cut it to fit over the comp cats and clamped it in place. VIOLA, BEST SOUND TO DATE!!!!! louder than catted X, but no trumpets!
Basicly, IMO, the bassani comp cats are the best high flow cats out; flow great and only dampen the sound a little.
