1/4 mile goal achieved for this year
my goal for the year was to trim .5 off my last year's best time and I achieved it on Friday night. Last year: K&N air charger. New this year: BamaChips 91 perf. tune; Steeda LCA's and UCA, M&H Drag Radials 275/50/17 - and most importantly, more practice. I still have less than 75 runs under my belt so there's a lot more room for improvement. Probably going to get the 4.10s this summer, too.

I expect to get to sea level in the fall and look forward to seeing what the difference is.

FWIW, I was running the 26" tall 275/40-17 DRs with 4.10s and never had any traction problems, even on the poorly prepped "temporary" track I run on. N/A 60' times were in the 1.9 range, and with the blower I got a 1.79. And this is with an auto trans and stock torque converter. I'm a firm believer that unless you have gobs and gobs of stump pulling torque, a shorter tire will work better in most cases.

If you're racing at Thunder Mountain or outside of Kamloops there you will likely be running a good 3-4 tenths down at sea level. Do a search for altitude conversion charts. Up here in Calgary it's even worse. Physically 3500 feet above sea level, not counting weather which can push the elevation the computer sees upwards of 6000!
I plan to buy a portable weather station for next year so I can do accurate conversions.
