An Indianapolis man has a date with a Morgan County judge after being stopped by an Indiana State Police Mustang Unit on Ind. 37 near Waverly for speeds of 127 mph.
Trooper Dustin Starnes was patrolling Ind. 37 on Thursday when he clocked the northbound 1989 Corvette traveling 127 mph in a 60 mph zone.
“Before I could get a radar clock on the vehicle, I knew it was going to be extremely fast,” Starnes said.
“That is the fastest speed I have stopped in the Mustang.”
Starnes stopped the vehicle near Waverly on Ind. 37 and found the driver, Austin F. Chapin, 60, of Indianapolis, was also operating on a suspended driver’s license. Chapin’s vehicle was impounded and he was issued traffic citations for speeding, 127/60, and driving while suspended. Chapin will be required to appear in Martinsville City Court to answer charges to the infractions which could carry a fine of up to $ 500 each.

My brother in law is a policeman in Virginia. He said that a Mustang that looks almost exactly like mine got way from him doing speeds in excess of 130. His police cruiser could not keep up and the guy got away as radio help did not arrive in time. He said the guy just kept pulling away and losing him and there was nothing he could do.
His wife said seeing my car reminded him of his "white whale" that got away. He is always on the look-out for it and he says he will never forget it. So black Mustangs around Richmond, VA, look out my brother-in-law has a hard on for you.

Yea, you would think that it would have had more left.

I wish they would impound the vehicles driven by people with suspended/revoked licenses and those driven recklessly/caught racing. I see too many of the same names coming up at work - especially after holiday weekends.
