Seeing as everyone is doing car vs car threads. How bout a 59 Ford fairlane auto with 390 4 barrel Carb RV cam and stock exhaust vs my 01 bullitt with axle back and cai. 5 speed.

Little hard to tell.
The exhaust probably isn't stock because the engine isn't .
Might be 390 manifold with stock exhaust.
Bottom line...
Hard to tell because you know a few thing have been done to the drivetrain.
Who knows if you know all.

Stock manifold with 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back. Glass packs. Ford 9 inch rear end. 3.31 gears I believe. Trust me its no looker. Its my bosses car. All go and NO show. 235 white walls all around. I helped him with most of the build. We have not had a chance to race but IF he got traction would his 5000 pound car with 3 speeds keep up much less win. Never been dynoed but he calculated around 360 HP
Houtex- it is a very nice looking car if done right.

Idk about it weighing only a little more than my car. Maybe because its without electronics and about 400 pounds of metal have rusted off. Going to track Friday. Should be interesting

Thank you. I was surprised when everyone said I'd get my a$$ handed to me. Its a 390 with a cam. In a big metal shell. Sounds great. Definitely has power. More power than my bullitt. I just don't think it is geared correctly or light enough to hold up. I also don't think it can put the power down. It's the same as it was in 59 with a bigger motor and rear end. No sort of subframe connectors, roll bars or any other stiffening items. Me and him are at it daily now lol. Tank vs bullitt
I know my response wasnt aimed strictly at 1/4 mi times. I think it will be a race, definately not a blow out.
But OVERALL, if i had to pick which car i liked better--to own or drive, it would be the Fairlane

So how did it turn out? I would think you would walk on him in a straight line, and crush him on anything with a turn lol.
Fully restored a Fairlane would be nice to take to a car show, but it's not so it's a win-win for the Bullitt IMO.
