GT vs Bullitt Comparison
Wow, more mustang arguing than I have seen in a while (V6 vs GT rants). Just get in your cars and enjoy them. I don't care if your car has 120 hp or 1,000 hp. If it says Mustang (and is a Mustang) I like it! Now if only I could figure out why GT/CS and Bullitt owners (not all of you) don't realize the car is a GT with some mods. I'll sit here and wait to be flamed.

Yeah, why do Mustang people have to belittle each other or play the "my car is so much cooler and exclusive than yours" game with other Mustang owners? Heck, we get enough of that kind of attitude from people with other makes of cars....
Bullitts, Shelbys, GT/CS's ,V6s, GTs --- different flavors, but they're all good.

BTW, I'm a GT/CS owners, ans while at the stealership the othe day, a Bullitt drove out, and I had to turn to the tech and ask: "Is that how a stock Bullitt sounds?"...he nodded with a smile....sounds good!
So there, a GT/CS owner complimenting the Bullitt...shall we break out in a Kumbaya chanting now?

Guys and Gals,
Good is F'n Good, no matter who you are. Both the GT/CS and the BULLITT are Mustangs, they are both "good". Some may be more good than others, but they are all GOOD.
I'm going to try and put together a little FIRST HAND comparative writeup about my 2008 GT500 and my 2008 Bullitt. Mind you, I think they are both "good" but they are certainly NOT the same.

Dark Highland Green is the best color ... too bad they didn't offer them again also in True Blue ... (but the 1 major flaw is the weak little 281 engine ... no big-block power like the original ... the car is worthy of a 5.4 ... ).
Face it, the Bullitt is just another flavor of Mustang. Ford is simply capitalizing on the car's popularity and trying to keep a good thing going by reaching into the seemingly bottomless Ford parts bin to keep coming up with new flavors. Doing so, increases the likelihood that they'll be able to hook a buyer. Something for everyone, you know?
Oh, BTW, personally it's not my cup of tea because of the front end and rear end. I like the rear spoiler on the Mustang, and I think the grill needs some foglamps. Mechanically, it's a great car. If I were to by one, I'd pop a V6 grill and lamps on the front end and GT rear spoiler painted flat black. THEN you got a sweet-looking, sounding, and running Mustang.
Oh, and the comments about HID lighting were interesting to read too but I think the main reasons the OEM's are using them are styling, reduced power consumption and harness weight.

Here we go again...
Have you ever even driven an old pre-1971 big block Mustang?
The original 1968 Mustang GT 390 (Curb Weight 3623 lbs) boasted a 0-60 time of 7.8 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 15.2 seconds at 94.0 mph, according to Motor Trend.
The new (and vastly improved) 2008 Mustang Bullitt (Curb Weight 3590 lbs) boasts a 0-60 time of 5.0 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 13.7 seconds at 102.7 mph...

. . . . . . . . . 0-60 ¼ mile
1968 390 ci 7.8 15.2
2008 281 ci 5.0 13.7
That little 281 is Phenomenal

No one was debating that it wasn't faster then a 1968 but the point is a V6 accord can run the 1/4 in 14 sec. a 5.4 would have made the car a super performer in todays market.
Any GT with a spoiler delete and no GT Bad appearance package can look stealth -- you can even pull the GT emblems off and put ponies on the side . . .The Bullitt is nice -- One of my friends picked one up a couple of weeks ago. The GT500 seats are probably the best interior feature -- I'm not so sold on the shifter --- I like the Hurst.
You can "Shelby" a GT with the Ford Racing Packs and keep it under warranty too -- just save the Carroll signature Plate -- which IMHO costs more like 6K if you run the numbers.
my .02 worth.
But the balance wouldn't be as nice and it would be heavier. Just Whipple that 4.6 and you'll have the best of both worlds ---
A mustang is a mustang...
Can you take a stock GT add an intake and performance tune, beef up the suspension, change the gears less than the $3300 bullitt package...yup...
Can you take a stock GT add an intake and performance tune, beef up the suspension, change the gears, and styling less than a $8000 - 10,000 Shelby package...yup...
All things considered the only thing differentiates our stangs is how much money we've spent modding them...and lets face it we love spending money on our ladies

You really can't match a Bullitt special part for special part in modding a GT and end up less than the cost of the Bullitt package. It is currently one of Ford's bargains.
Part of the success of the Mustang has always been it's ease of 'individualisation'
How fast is a v6 Mustang now? How fast do you think a Mustang will be with the ecoboost V6? not that it's all about speed.
Who cares about the Accord. In 5 -10 - 15 years it will just be another Accord worn out transportation device no one looks at twice.
True that! I was sitting on my porch a few days ago and a "very" clean looking Fox drove by with the unmistakable whistle of a centri. It was a total head turner...I don't believe I've ever looked twice at an Accord.
Mustang appeals to "enthusiasts". It's not just simple transportation. Besides Ford making the car available in so many different flavors, there's more than enough tuners that up the choices available. Basically, if you are a Mustang fan, there's one out there that fits your taste and pocketbook. Then, on top of that, I personally can't think of another car that is modded more by it's owners. It's actually hard to find a 100% stock one IMO.
