Ive never drove a termy but ive rode in one and id have to agree, termy would seem like more fun to drive. Its a smaller car all around. Kinda reminds me of my foxes i owned. Smaller, narrower.... Just a fun car to drive. The hand built forged motor, tremec tranny, and supercharger is what made my decision a lil easier over the coyote, and to me thats all i need!!! You can have the pretty new interior, and all the bells and whistles on the new mustangs! I wanted a muscle car and thats why i went with the 500

You don't think a 400+HP gt is a muscle car? In stock trim the 11gt seems to put the power down better. I've seen stock 5.0s keep up and even beat 07-09 Gt500s

The 11-13 is very much a muscle car, and it impressed the heck out of me. If not, i wouldve never considered buying one. But like i stated earlier, imo, i felt like i was gettinga better built car all around. Im not the type of person that needs nav, lighted door sills, trak pack, etc. i was on this forum for awhile before i made my decision, and read post about the mt82, and cylinder problems on the coyote and it made me a lil nervous. And as far as putting the power down.... We are talking about 4 years between the 2 models also. With some tires and control arms, the 11 wouldnt stand a chance. Ive raced a 2011-12 from a roll and put a length on him. Dont take this the wrong way, i love the power of the new coyote, i just like things simple

Once you've had 500+hp, your never going back. In the muscle car world right now, 700hp is what 400 used to be. 11gt is not capable of holding 600 but 07-09 Shelby is all day long. Not saying the GT is weak or doesn't perform but very limited for my taste.

I for one do not like the 05-09 interior or the massive square block the car is on the outside. The 10 and newer cars have awesome interiors and their outside had a nice trim.

Im a big fan of the terminator myself, i went with the 500 because i had a 02 gt and just wanted something different! I know it was a cobra but just wanted something different. And your exactly right.... Its all what you like, a matter of opinion

Uhh... they are all SVT cars, unless your saying get a GT500 with the performance pack which is more or less a suspension and tire upgrade.

The areo improvments are nice on the 2010+ cars but for the amount of time your going to spend at whatever speeds this becomes relevant its a moot point (can report that a brief foray into the 160+ zone is not an issue) especially on a street car.

I'd say the biggest reason to get a 2010 to 2011 GT500 are the knock sensors allowing for more aggressive tuning otherwise it comes down to a styling preference and wether you consider the interior a big enough improvement to warrant the difference in looks.

This is what seals the deal for me. To me, the early 05-09 S197 interior isn't a nice enough upgrade to the SN95s. I have an SN95s, so if I were to stay in that era, the Cobra would be top dog obviously. So for me, it would be 04 Cobra or 11+ GT500 with glass roof!

Looking on auto trader dealers have 10 GT500s in the high 30's to low 40's. Is that in your price range Phil?

The body is perfect with the exception of some paint chips on the hood (huge problem with these 2003-04 Cobras).

Mmmm Bassani + 4v Cobra is sex!! With 20k miles, I'd say $22k-ish...

Yeah the car sounds great, prior to adding the exhaust it dynoed at 438RWHP 462RWTQ on a 90 degree summer day.

I have raced a 2007 GT500 and had a good 2 car length lead so I feel I am more of less in stock GT500 territory, possibly quicker. I just want an s197, I've owned an sn95 since 99... want something new

Car like that will go for around 25k on ebay.

Dude 07-09 can be made a total beast. And yes they will beat the terminator with the same mods. No it will not be as fun to drive because the 197 body is just a lot more stable and a good bit bigger.

The difference is:
700hp Cobra=Total blast and terrifying. Really hard to control.
700hp Shelby=Faster car. Not as fun. Much more drivable.

I'm not claiming that it won't all I stated is that my modified Cobra is about as faster or faster than a stock GT500, to be honest I wouldn't do many mods if I get one. I think my Cobra is plenty fast for me I just like the total package of the newer car.

Also I have driven a modified GT500 with 600+ HP and it was pretty terrifying too.

I hear ya. Same here, except 2000. But after driving a leftover "new" '09 GT, I knew I couldn't live with the 05-09 interior. It had rattles and squeaks at 100 miles. One drive in the (then new) '10 and I was sold on the new interior. I was also thinking you could get up to $25k for your car, but I'd really say $22-25k depending on the market - going into winter, might be harder to get that higher end of the range.
