I've Got A Problem
Ok I know this should probably be in the car care section, but I fiqured it would get more hits in this forum...(I hope). Anyway, I had my car repaired about a month ago, for a run in with a deer. The fix looked good, until today. Today was the first time I drove the car into the sun, the windshield has what appears to be overspray on it( the whole windshield). I took a rag with acetone on it to try and clean it off ( the rag turned red, my car is WB) with limited success. I think I am trying to remove a catalized paint from my windshield and it doesn't want to come off. Anybody have any ideas on this one?
Well, I've done one worse, I drove through 15 Gallons of Navajo White paint this weekend !!! :bang:
What I would do is stay away from those harsh chemicals. Since it's on the glass you should be able to scrape it right off with a razor blade, then claybar any remaining stuff. Might as well claybar the front of the car too, if it's on the window, it's probably everywhere else too!
I started taking my new custom paint job off yesterday.... it took me all afternoon just to do one quarter panel :bang:

I heard laquer thinner is good to take off overspray without harming the clearcoat. Just don't do it if you have had any type of paint repairs without putting on a new clear coat.
It worked great when the guy showed me how to do it.

I can relate to sixty six. I hit an umarked painted road anf had paint all down both sides and in the wheel wells. Took a day to get most off and still see spots from time to time. Everytime I think I have it all I find more. I also have overspray on the side of the car from when they fixed passanger door. It took me six months to find it.
The best thing for overspray on glass is STEEL WOOL with LOTS OF WATER.
I do this in my shop from time to time in the rare occurance of overspray on glass .
Works great!

If the claybar wont work, stay away from razor blades too easy to scratch the laminate. :nono:

The steel wool # is 000 extra fine.
Again I dont agree with using a razor blade on a windshield, side glass ok but not windshield!
Use lots of water with the steel wool and the overspray will come off easily.

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it. This deer thing has been one problem after the other. Seems you can't get your car repaired today without a bunch of little issues developing.
