I am pretty new to this, so to me it looks like these products are trying to solve the same problem. What is the difference between them? or probably better stated, when should one be used over the other?

Both those products are sealents. They come after clay baring and before some carnuba wax.

 

I use both. Wet diamond after your wash and clay (if needed). Crystal seal after the wet diamond has cured for a little more protection. I also use crystal seal to maintain the protection as it's very easy to apply. I use it every 3-4 washes. Takes 15-20 min. tops.

Yea these two are all you will need. You could also use Wet Diamond and top it with Collinite #845 for protection that should last even longer (4-5 months). In this case you would not need the crystal seal.

 

Great question.

Wet Diamond is a traditional liquid paint sealant; you apply it with a foam applicator and let it dry to a haze for about 20 minutes before removing it. Protection lasts 5-6 months depending on environment.

Crystal Seal is a spray on walk away paint sealant; you simply spray it onto the surface and evenly distribute the product using a microfiber applicator. There is no buffing or rubbing required! Protection lasts 3-4 months depending on environment.

A lot of people like to use Wet Diamond as their main form of paint protection, and then apply a coat of Crystal Seal once a month or so.

With either product, you want to make sure you clay and polish the vehicle before application.

I ordered some Wet Diamond and the BlackFire Montan Wax on the BF discount day. Should be arriving tomorrow. The 12 days discounts are killing me.

Too cold here to clean off the old wax and apply now. But, I am looking forward too it.
