I've switched entirely to 'sealant' type products on the Mustang.

Currently using Blackfire Crystal Seal; you literally spray this stuff on (after cleaning), spread it out evenly w/ microfiber applicator, and walk away. It's ridiculously easy to apply, has a great shine, and seems to last a couple months per application (my car is still beading today from an application in June, no joke).

You couldn't pay me to go back to traditional wipe-on, buff-off waxes after using this stuff.

Wolfgang has an equivalent product called Deep Gloss Liquid Seal that I'll try when my bottle of Blackfire runs out (not for a while at the current rate I'm using it).

Lots of good recommendations in this thread. Been wanting to give Blackfire Wet Diamond a shot, but haven't gotten around to it.

Growing up in rainy climates, I swear by using Nu Finish sealant. Goes on okay and buffs off without too much of a hassle, as long as you're working with a good clean surface and enough ambient temperature. It doesn't give the greatest shine, but it stands up to 6 months worth of rain before I need to reapply it. Been using the stuff since 1998, on all cars I've owned. Definitely recommend it strictly for weather protection. My 5.0 is my daily, so I always have a good coat on.

My routine now consists of Meguiars clay bar in the spring, followed up with Liquid Lustre. Provides a darn good shine, but typically only lasts a couple months. When fall hits, just before the winter temps start to creep in, I'll do a coat or two of Nu Finish to protect against all the winter rain of the Pacific NW. That lasts me all the way through spring, including weekly hand washing sessions. Paint still looks like new.

I've been using Groits wax too and I love the results, I also have been using Groits waterless car wash for when the car isn't super dirty or covered in bugs.

I do need to clay bar the car but I hate doing it. it takes so **** long to do and then you have to turn around and wax it all over again.

Meguiars M105 & M205 polish for correcting, Blackfire wet diamond, let it cure, then top with Blackfire crystal seal. You will get a deep wet shine that will last for months and through several washes. As others have said the crystal seal is super easy to apply.

I havnt given crystal seal a try yet but after seeing so many rave ratings about it im gonna pull the trigger. Just gotta finish this **** bottle of klasse -_- done at least 10 cars with it and 3 times for my car itself and theres still some left! Its great stuff but the need to apply suuuuuper thin stratches out the durability of the bottle itself. But ive gone around 6 months in the south texas climate with great results. Super shine, great water beading, and still as slick as the day i applied it.

I seal the paint once a year with Griots. I feel thats all it needs. I dont drive it in the winter or rain and when I wash it I always use a micro fiber towel and that Meguiars Wash Wax Anywhere Spray. It leaves a thin coat of protective wax on the paint. So technically Im waxing the car every time i wash it. Good stuff guys seriously check it out.

As for types of wax, there are many recommendations in this thread, I've had good luck with Meguiars but I haven't tried any specialty waxes available online.
Couldn't find the Meguiars NXT mentioned in the thread, but they had Meguiars "Ultimate Liquid Wax" at the good ol' Canadian Tire. Very expensive - hopefully price and quality have a high degree of correlation in this case.

I'd have considered autogeek, but shipping to Canada just makes the cost ridiculous.

I've often wished I had a floor drain in my garage, and that my garage was heated so I could just come home, pull in, and hose everything off of my cars. Maybe I should just move to a warmer climate.

DinoDoc - You can claybar a Mustang in about the same amount of time it takes to get a root canal. Now, which would you rather spend your time doing. It's all a matter of preference.

Seriously, I have learned over the years that if you give your car a good coat of wax and keep it clean, claybarring is usually (usually, I say) only necessary for the horizontal surfaces, i.e., roof, hood, trunk tops of front fenders, tops of rear quarters, and the front bumper. i don't spend any time claybarring the vertical surfaces. Of course, that's just me.

What is the Meguiar's 105 and 205? I typically use the Meguiar's #2 Polish, the Showcar Glaze, and the Gold Master Wax. I'd be interested in trying the products you mention along with the Blackfire sealant. Never tried that before.

I just waxed my 2014 GT today. I used Duragloss polish bonding agent 601 on the car first and then used Duragloss 111 on top of that. It looks very good. I also have some Duragloss 951 Aquawax to spray on occasionally.

Here are a couple of pictures after waxing but they don't do it justice. I should have taken a few close up shots.

Yea here is a pic of them. M105 & M205 are polishes. M105 is mainly for correcting your paint (removing scratches). Check out a guy named Junkman on you tube. He has a video called Paint correction for Novice. Not that you don't know what your doing but he explains these two polishes best. M205 I use 1-2 times year as a first step to polish my car, Blackfire Wet Diamond or recently I tried 4 star Ultimate paint protection on a recommendation from a member on here and it is just as good as Blackfire wet diamond but I still like my combo which last 6 months and my Stang is a DD except during winter. So here is what I do.

1. Two bucket wash, dry, clay bar w/ spray detailer (if needed), wipe off or wash again. then
2. M205- As a first step to polish. Remember polish creates the shine on your Stang not wax, wax protects.
3. Blackfire Wet Diamond (Apply very thin 1-2 coats and let this cure 12 hours if you can before next step)
4. Blackfire Crystal Seal (Can be applied in 15-20 mins and I use this every 4-5 washes to maintain.)

Very well said AJ. Thanks for explaining all this. Nice to have someone else besides me talk and explain detailing 101. I get tired of doing it over and over again

I also love your pic with the buffer

Great stuff ajcruz1

Would be cool if TMS had a "My Routine" as well as My Garage. That is the first thing I think of when I see some of these awesome pictures.

Thanks guys I'm kinda OCD when it comes to my cars being clean and there's lots of good info in the car care section. A few members on here ( Marc & FromZto5) have helped me expand my detailing knowledge.
