Argh!! Rain-X 2-in-1 on Tinted Windows
Without reading the directions first I used Rain-X 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner with Rain Repellent on the driver's side windows before I doubled checked the instructions, which states "Do not use on tinted windows."
After reading that I got some mild automotive soap and rubbed that area of the window and cleaned it with water. Any damage or harm done to the window using Rain-X 2-in-1?
I know Rain-X original is safe for tinted windows. But any reason why the 2-in-1 isn't?

Shouldn't be a problem so long as you used it on the exterior of the glass -- or am I stating the obvious? Window tint films are on the interior, and can be affected by some cleaners, including those with ammonia. On SUVs and other vehicles with factory tinted glass, it's a laminated glass with the tint sandwiched in the middle, so it should be safe for that.
My guess is that it said not to use it on tinted windows, because some of it may rub off onto the window trim, get applied onto the inside of the window, and then get smeared over the actual tint. If you cleaned it before rolling your windows up/down, I'm sure you're fine.. maybe you could scrub a little at the groove in the top of the door sill and between the window and the door at the bottom if you want to be safe..
Well I guess I should clarify alittle more. When I was cleaning the glass I applied it from the inside of the vehicle on the windows, so it's basically right on the film.
Also, I didn't apply the substance on the whole windows just the top half before I hesitated to double check if it was safe for tinted windows.

Rain-X 2 in 1 may be amonia based or contain it. Is your tint aftermarket? On aftermarket tinted windows, I think the glue is amonia based. Even if the glue isn't, amonia still dissolves the glue and the tint starts to peel off the window. I know because I de-tinted my first car. You should also avoid Windex on aftermarket tinted windows for the same reason.
It does not contain ammonia, but it does have other ingredients which may have long-term effects on tint. You're probably fine, but if you haven't rinsed it or haven't used a proper tint-safe cleaner, I'd do so.
Just keep the product for exterior only.
