Just purchased "LampGard" to protect my headlights
I placed an order for LampGard from MacNeil. This product is like the clear 6 mil. thick bra material but this is 40 mil. thick and is applied to headlights, parking lamps, and turn signals. I have the HID headlights and would like to protect the lenses on these headlights so I figured $45 is a good investment for some protection. I could not find any reviews on this product or any comments about the product on this forum. I did purchase Floor Liner for an Expedition from MacNeil two months ago and was amazed by the product fit, color match, and finish. Very nice product. I liked it so much I bought a set of black Floor Liners for my '08 BULLITT. This car is a garage queen and I plan to keep for a long time but I hate to see the carpet and mats get beat up, especially by the mechanic for annual inspections.
I was a little apprehensive to purchase the LampGard because I fear the product adhesive could eventually damage my headlight lenses over time. I am also concerned that removing LampGard when the time comes could prove to be difficult in that the adhesive residual could be left on the lens after the film is removed. I prefer to avoid a cleaning agent that could potentially damage the headlight lenses.
I have heard bad things from my local body shop about the clear bras upon removal. I have heard the paint tint will no longer match the unprotected paint when the clear bra is removed. Not that I'm using a clear bra on my paint... but it does make me worry what will happen to my headlights when I take the LampGard off when it is beat up and pitted.
I'll roll the dice and gamble on this one. Does anyone have experience with headlight protection? What are your thoughts?
