Tried my hand at paint correction today. Beautiful shine but I can still see very fine scratches. So I guess I need more aggressive compound? used a PC DA with Lake Country Orange pad with Meguires swirl remover 2.0. Oh well, I got in about 12 hours of quality time with my Khaleesi over that last two days, still have passenger side to do.

Picked up the car from getting the windows tinted. 15% in rear and 35% on the sides.

Max... Meguires swirl remover 2.0 is not that aggressive. Try Megs 105 and 205 combo if you want to stay with Megs stuff.

Also, Khaleesi is an AWESOME name. Game of Thrones right? Drago's wife? hehe... love that series.

For me, I drove her last night and today. Took this shot.

I would try finishing it up with Meg's ultimate polish and a softer pad. It's impossible to find any good products here locally except what autozone sells so I've used quite a few megs products also. And I know exactly how long it takes. Just keep going man. Its a lot of work to get it right.

That's why I

1) shop online at places like Autogeek or Detailers Domain, etc... for high quality products

2) use Menzerna products and other high quality polishes. It is not a lot of work for 98% to 100% correction. Buff once with orange, 5 to 6 passes, swirl free. Follow up with Gray pad, finer polish, 5 to 6 passes, jeweled surface. Done.

I hear ya. I'm slowly getting to that point. You and Marc and a few others are doing a great job here educating everyone on proper paint care for sure. Now I just gotta get my car back to where it was before it went to the body shop.
I also noticed some burnished areas on my door from a high speed buffer that I have to fix. Hopefully it wont be too difficult. It only takes one joker to wash your car with a dirty mitt to jack everything up on your ride.

^ this... so true.

Unfortunately, 95 to 98% of car owners have swirls... and they are almost always, self inflicted, after the first self-wash or wax using improper techniques

As for your burmish, if it's machine induced, more than likely it's holograms caused by improper use of a rotary buffer. You will have to go over it really good with a DA or another rotary...worst cases I have seen, you have to wet sand it. Hopefully, it is not that bad.

It is hopefully not too bad. Pretty sure I can fix it. I can see exactly where he passed the buffer. Probably when he was blending the quarter. Problem is you can't see it except in the sun. Gonna have to polish and then pull it back out then polish again I'm sure. Lol. My next stang will be race red. Black sucks.

Yeah, it is an awesome series, and I just thought that even though it is a title, it makes a great car name! Thanks, as always, and I eventually want to get into Menzerna products, but I had already bought some stuff. So I bought a compound today with about twice as much cut on Meg's scale of 1-10. Could you tell me what the 105/205 system is? I am trying the "use the least aggressive system possible first" method. BTW, I always enjoy your photography of Marilyn.

Thanks, I just have to work it around family time, it will be a long process. But it will get done!

Drove to work, happily drive to several chores, then washed her because it rained all day. While washing, panicked about every little thing that *might* be a scratch, chip, etc. =P (only had the car ~2 weeks)

Max tint is legislated in most states, since tint can reduce visibility both for the driver and OF the driver.
