Thumbs up

ok...if the insurance will kill me on an 05 GT (im 19 and have AAA, and have 0 points and NO accidents, clean record) which it probably will anyways...and i decide not to go w\a 05 due to that reason...ive decided to get a 01-04...under my X-plan i can STILL get an 04 under the X-plan as long as it is b4 march 05 i believe...what are the advantages and disadvantages of buying a used GT from a ford dealer or dealer in general if it doesnt have a warranty? if u bought a car from a dealer and it isnt certified or given a warranty, is it the same as u would buy it from a private party or at least do u know the car went thru a series of measures to ensure the car is some what good? because if i cant get my 05....ill probably just do the 01-04...and ya know...alot of the times u can get a good deal on a GT from a private party and the car will have some nice mods on it i need ur opinion folks! im saving alot more now, and hope to get it b4 or around summer!

Not knowing how the car was treated, meeting and talking to the owner can make a difference, plus at a dealer you would probably have to pay 10 - 15% more.

I bought a used 97 Cobra from a dealer. Bought a three year extended warranty also. It came with a standard 30 day warranty also. I'm glad I went with a dealer because after I bought it, there were problems they took care of.

1. lights in the console were out, replaced free of charge. 2. reverse grinding--they opened the tranny and fixed/replaced a bunch of stuff including bad syncros, forks, and everything they could that needed replacement. I also got a rental for free. I am very pleased with buying from the dealer.

Bottom line: Car looked and drove fine, but it was abused as many of these cars are. You never know till you open it up.

Good luck
