I find it hard to believe it's considered unbelievable that anyone shouldn't go to jail, or get their license suspended, for speeding in excess.

Oh yes, I've done it. Way back in the 86 SVO. Buried the speedo (in excess of 125). Scary **** thing... you can't predict what's on the road... or who... at any given time. And at 2 miles a minute... that's not a lot of time to clamp it down. It pretty much cured me of the 'go fast when there's others on the road' syndrome. Hell, it cured me of the go fast when it's just me.

There are places to take a car to indulge your wild *** needs to go exceedingly fast. A public street or road is not one of them.

I agree with the judge, and I would have taken him in regardless of such a great deal on something I got.

/have enough of people runnin' me over on I-10 at 85 in a 60. What's the **** hurry!?

US DOT Report Confirms Speed Not Major Accident Cause:
http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/26/2627.asp

IMO those nitwits who come to a dead stop in the middle of the road, THEN put their blinker on and turn are much more of a hazard than speeders. Or the ones who fail to signal all together.

And the biggest instigator of road rage: Being the 2nd car at a traffic light and when the light turns green, the 1st car puts their blinker on to turn left. At that point you're too close to them to go around, so you're stuck behind them till they turn. THEY should have their left turn privilege revoked and be damned to making right turns only for a term of no less than 90 days.

Well, then, we should all go "computers drive", so the cars can work like in Minority Report or Demolition Man and not have to worry about speeding about, because nobody can screw it up with their awful driving (which I concede and agree is atrocious sometimes.)

I somehow think that's not the answer though...

Not for speeding but when I was 18 I had a cop walk up to my window and the first thing out of his mouth was. "I don't have to write a ticket for that. I can take you to jail" But he showed mercy and left me with a ticket instead.
A man I used to work with got a ticket for 110 out on the 15 one night on his way to Las Vegas. It was 2am and not much traffic according to him. The cop told him that he can't write him up for that fast. He has to go to jail. But that will take me off my beat for at least 4 hours and I would rather catch drunks. So he wrote him up for the max he could without taking him in. 90 I think it was.
Our Mustangs can go from 65 to above 100 in the distance it takes to pass a couple semi's on the highway. Be careful out there.

Man I feel lucky right now. I actually passed a Sheriff in Fresno, CA doing 110mph and he let me go cuz he didnt want to do all the paperwork involved cuz he didnt "know" how fast I was really traveling.

Good one. Kudos to the cops who would rather be taking drunks off the road.

Had the cruise set at 160kmh, right about 100mph today. Gotta love the autobahn.
