Thanks for the pic comments. I can't take any credit though, I wasn't the Model or the Photographer!

Congrats Tom! I know the feeling, just like when you sign for a new car loan.

Can't wait for the daily turbo install blog!

Sorry to hear about the brace not fitting like you hoped for.

Congrats on the gears! 4.10's right? (Don't whimp out on us!)

Exactly what I said when I removed the whole ducting!

No big deal on the brace. Like I said, I wasn't really feelin' the look.

I want to take good install pics and do a write-up, but I'm against the clock on this one (and I don't want to rush the install).

I'll be in Key West until Sunday, so I'll do the tear down of the car starting Monday and take pics of that. That will include the H-Pipe, the front bumper cover, the shaker, draining the oil, draining the coolant, draining the power steering fluid, etc. The kit won't be here until Wednesday or so.

I'll start the majority of the work on Nov 3 & 4 and I'll try to take good pics.

The turbo won't be here until the following week, so I'll finish up the install on Nov 10 & 11. Still in time for the Jack Roush show on the 15th!

Then I can put together a write-up of sorts (not a TacoBill write-up) at a later date when I don't have to rush.

I'll have to decide whether I want to trim the shaker like you guys did, or not. If I do, I'll paint the cam covers like Brian did.

I also found out today that the tune is on a Diablo Sport Predator. That has live data logging so I'll be able to get real-time data from all the sensors. Oil temp would be the one I want to keep my eye on.

So, of course I have to get a boost gauge now... anybody know of any good kits to mount gauges?

Is there one that goes on the dash in the center of the car?

Or should I get a 2-gauge a-pillar gauge mount? Boost and Oil Temp...

Thanks!

I know... I can't wait! Sucks it will be around 21 days until I can fire it up!

I'll have to keep the charger on the battery, cause the stupid thing will die...

Well, I can't change it, so I figure why monitor it.

I'll be able to adjust boost with the boost-controller, so I want to know where I'm setting it... and I want to keep an eye on Oil Temp. Even though he said it's not a problem, especially with the Mobil 1.

Those look good! It'll be down the road... I'm going to leave boost at the lowest setting (6psi) until I get a guage so I know I'll be safe. Then I'll jack it up to 8psi for the dyno run.

True, but I'd be curious. And besides, those AF gauges look cool!

SOS is the company that made my switch plate in the cupholder area.

Tom what brand gauges are you going to go with? I have used some turbo gauges in the past with my VW GTI, ran the boost at 20psi lol and was pulling 250 RWHP with it, talk about smoking the front tires............ Alas thats what I dumped to get the GT

I like the gauges where the numbers and the needle glow only (similar to indiglo) I can reference in case your interested

Hey... I dumped my 97 VW GTi for the GT as well, but I had the VR6 version not the turbo'd 1.8. In 2002 I tried to get a R32 But no dealer around had one. What year was yours?

Here are my combined feelings: (in that order).

Brian - I checked - they don't use Dynatech cats. The cats that come with the kit are used on the yellow car in the pictures. They haven't had any failures or complaints from customers except one. That one time was due to overfueling during tuning on a dyno (which I expect could happen with stock cats).

good to hear they're not Dynatechs, last thing you want is a cat going south and putting windows in your block.

I love the old GTIs too. That was one of the few cars I was looking at when I was looking for a new car. If I hadn't got a Mustang, I would probably be driving a GTI. Really fun cars to drive.

I think you're right, Phil. Up close, I don't think it looks right.

Guess I would go with the A-pillar pods.

The car looks so much better, Kyle! It may get even a little lower as it settles.
