Well I am at work today so no start on the install yet.
Bill in the instructions it says you only have to place a strip of masking tape at the beginning and end of the areas and align the stripes to them, BUT I think I will mask the center line the entire length of the car. I think this will allow for a much more accurate layout.

No centerline marked or even measured yet.

Why would I mark the centerline of the masking tape ?
If the masking tape is centered, I don't see a need for marking the center of it. (Explain please ) Unless you mean BEFORE I place it on the car.

I will use 3M Green Automotive Masking Tape, same as in the pics of the scoop install (Only way to go IMO)

Later this afternoon or evening, if I get a Chance, I will lay the hood stripes on the car and mask the ends down, snap a couple shots and post them for you Bill, but keep in mind the following:
1 - They will have the backing tape on so they will be about ¼" to ½" Wider than 12"
2 - They will not be perfectly centered
3 - Edges will appear rough
4 - They will probably have a little "curl" to them as well.

I'm not nervous, just anxious.

Sounds good to me on laying down the masking tape the entire length. That way you can see any deviation on that 1/4" gap.

To ensure that the 1 1/2" masking tape is centered (see pic).

Yes, before. It's to ensure the C/L matches the center of the tape. Guess you can always double check by measuring the outer edge of the tape to the outer edge of the hood, roof, etc.

Never seen Green 3M masking tape before... Where you get this from? Home Depot?

Thanks. I'm not worried about the little stuff, just want to get an idea how they'll look compared to the 8" and 10" kits I see out there.

Reply from Rob at BSM when I sent pictures of the stripe and the sheets I received. (supposed to be two sheets, I received three)
"Yeah i remember now, the machine moved mid-cut and messed up the solid driver side bumper piece (and apparently the passenger hood stripe) as well as one of the cutout bumper pieces."
Rob already has the piece cut and on it's way. Great guy and FAST e-mail responses.

Ha! Who knew?

Looks like it sticks pretty good. I'm assuming it has a stronger adhesion compared to the blue painters tape?

I may have to look around for a 1 1/2" roll.

3 sheets? You lost me again.

I also e-mailed Rob this morning asking about the nozzle and rear emblem cut-outs (as to if there's a gap around them). Still waiting for a response as of 0938hrs PST.

Yes it is only supposed to be two sheets, one for the driver side one for the passenger side. Except for the front bumper pieces which both pieces with the license cut-out are on one sheet and the others without the bumper cutout on the other.
Since the machine messed up they had to get a third sheet and recut two of the pieces. That is why I have three sheets or should I say rolls?
Clear yet ?

Crystal.

Another thing I've been thinking about, although most likely totally unneccessary, is to use distilled water for the solution.

Think it'll help or am I whacked?

Still no respose from Rob. Maybe current customers get a quicker response (?). It's not a 911 question anyway, I'd like to see your final before I place my order.

Daryl- Does marking the center of the green tape make any sense (like my attached pic a few posts up)? Or, do you have an alternate way of locating the tape center?

Yea it makes perfect sense now. At first I was like WTF ? LOL
I am sure that is the method I will use, but here is another question.
Since I can't install the Passenger Side Hood Stripe (the defective one) should I go ahead and install the driver side one? I am thinking yes, even though it will look odd as hell until I get the replacement stripe.
Should I start on the roof first or still do the hood first ?
My luck with the stuff is uncanny isn't it ?

I don't think distilled water would be necessary, but I don't think it would hurt either.
Am I using distilled water? No

Response from Bob @ Mustang Tuning concerning the special pricing on the CDC Shaker System.

"We got those at a special deal and that’s why we were able to offer them at that price. Your best bet would be to contact one of our customer service representatives and see if they can give you a similar discount."

Looks like I will be making a phone call.
Tom are you serious about purchasing the Shaker? If so maybe we can work out a special price if we both buy at the same time.

Well, I would start at the roof since you're missing the pass side hood stripe. Then move onto the rear decklid, spoiler, then bumpers.
Save the hood for last, that way you'll only have to mask it once. Plus it's 'supposed' to be the easiest, especially after you've experienced the rest of the car.

Of course if you go buy a gallon of distilled and use it, you'll never tell us anyway!!

Well I was thinking that if you did change your mind at the last minute and switched from tap to distilled (mostly for good luck), you'd be too ashamed to tell us... or would you.

Tom has alot of reading to do... with a whopping question at the end.

I'm here, I'm here... sure, ask if buying two at the same time would give a discount.

I'll most likely get some distillied water for my stripes. It's only a buck a gallon and won't trap all those minerals and such under the vinyl. So if anything should occur during the install, at least you'll be able to rule out the solution as a cause.

Hot off the press tips on vinyl graphic installations!

Tip 2

Gonna buy some D-Water now?
