Shaker Duct
Got some good news and some bad news about removing the shaker duct from the scoop.
Good news- It can be done without removing the shroud. Check out the pic below for proof.
![](http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e19/demios85/Misc/c023.jpg)
Bad news- I didn't have a big enough extension to reach the bolts.
![](http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e19/demios85/Misc/c035.jpg)
Do they sell a bigger and skinnier extension? As you can see in the pic below I couldn't get it in any further. All I need is an extension that's 3-4 inches longer and perferably skinnier that my current extension. BTW- what size do you guys think those bolts are? Help please.

I think you still need the scoop off to get the tube out, though.
You'll get the bolts loose, but the tube won't be able to come out from the way it looks.
Yes, they make much longer extensions - don't know if it's metric or SAE... 7/16"? 1/2"? 13mm?

Well I just looked at Sears.com and found 20" extensions but now my problem is which one do I get the 1/2" or 3/8"?? Or should I just get both?

Typically I only break out the 1/2" drive stuff for head bolts, gnarly exhaust manifold bolts or flywheel bolts...
The bolts on the back... 10mm. Not that I know for sure, but when in doubt I start at 10mm for these types of things

I think I used a 10" long 3/8" drive extension plus another 3" attached to it to get to those and I believe they're metric. Like Brian said, I'd guess 10mm, but could be as high as 12mm.
Again, I agree with Brian on the 1/2" drive. That should be used for the big stuff only.
Remember when we did the H-Pipe? It was all done using 1/4" and 3/8" drive sockets and ratchets.
btw- Lay a rag down on that radiator shroud before something rolls off and scratches something!

If you look in at the pic Bill you can see I used a 10" extension with + 3" one attached and couldn't get it to fit through the openings. So I'm assuming you must have used a much larger one.
BTW- I'll make sure to lay a rag down next time.

I think your problem is going to be getting the duct out once the bolts are removed. Unless there is something I'm not seeing - but it looks like the tube comes into the back and bends to the left and to the right. With the scoop off, I think it "lifts" out once the bolts are removed. Good luck - I hope you get it out!

Yes, I think you're right, it may have been a 10 plus a 6. Put some tape around each section (socket to extension to extension) so it doesn't seperate.
Yup, good luck, Leo! I hope you succeed because once you remove those 2 bolts, it may be a bear getting them back in.

That's why I'm afraid you'll need to take the scoop off of the shroud. Then the tube in the back can lift out with the scoop out of the way. Only problem is you can't get to the scoop bolts without turning the whole thing upside down.

Yes. Some, or all, of those bolts have to be removed to separate the scoop from the shroud.
Do you see what I mean about the tube in the back not being able to be removed by pulling it out toward the back? (or at least it looks that way)
It looks like it has to be lifted up toward the scoop.
Guess you can try it - the bolts for the tube have to come out one way or the other.
