I do every day, I agree about the rods deff the weak link in the 3V. Ive seen some let g at 400+- and then there are guys like me with well over 500 and holding.

Looking back at my post, I didn't mean to type "high boost alone...", I should have typed "boost alone...". Look at Russ (turbo05gt) on stock internals... something is keeping that engine together and he's a lot harder on it then I am on mine:

I agree with you - I could go out to the garage right now, turn my boost controller up to 20 psi, drive down the street, floor it, and blow the engine. But, I still maintain that boost alone (normal boost - 6psi, 8psi, 10psi) doesn't blow an engine. Same thing with Nitrous. People think nitrous will blow an engine. No - the lean condition blows the engine. If the wet or dry kit doesn't add the proper amount of fuel (or up the fuel pressure) then they are asking for trouble. Of course if they jet it for a 200HP shot and exceed their HP limits, well then they are also asking for trouble.

I meant that in the nicest way possible! And not that I wouldn't do it... just trying to talk myself out of it! But I don't think Brian's (or Kyle's) Nittos were $600 for just the 2 rear tires. If they were, well then, I guess they have way more money than me!

I am economically stupid, if I was smart I would have gotten a Yaris and had several thousand dollars to play with right now.
I went back and forth, staggered or not to be staggered for a long time. I have more instant torque with my set up so it made some sense to go staggered. Now that I've driven the car for awhile, I could have gone 275/40 all around.

But man you can't beat the look. With mom & dad with their RV group a couple of the older men went first to the rear tires, and I quote "Look at the meat you got on here, that's one big tire" then they looked at the supercharger.

FWIW I don't know what I paid for the Nittos, the BFGs were more expensive. I got one price and it was lower than anyone else, so I went for it. My money trees all dried up now.

 

It's not the one time purchase... if that's all it was, I would do it. It's the thought of having to buy them again down the road. No warranty offered on the BFG's... which mean they get somewhere in the neighborhood of 20,000 miles. For you that's like 1000 years.

Yeah... thought about that... but the tire is a little short. 255/45 and 285/40 are perfect.

I'll need to put over 500 miles on my new engine later before it can get dyno'd, and I'll need to do that quickly! Man, I might have to drive it everyday.

At the rate Bill has been driving, its about 8-10 years.
I like to change tires at least every 10 years no matter what.
Somehow I don't think my current tires will make it past 5 with all the hard corners and burnouts.

 

I vote staggered. I would've gone staggered if I was changing rims but since I can't run bigger than 255's on the factory bullits I'm stuck there.

Just got back from the Edlebrock show with the socal crew Boy, was it hot.

 

They weren't much cheaper. 285/40s are really expensive.
