Excessive lean condition. Root cause was the KB BAP was not installed during the test drive.
Motor was spinning around 4500 rpm's or so when it went.

These cast internal modular motors are extrememy sensitive to lean conditions and the results can be catastrophic. Not like the old day iron blocks when it just rattled like marbles in a coffee can when it pre-detonated.

Or replace both with ported & polished heads?

I'm interested what the cam lobes look like over #8 from the looks of that one valve it looks bent from impact.

I know you don't want talk about being intercooled but after looking at this I would do everything possible to prevent detonation.
Danny's engine builder will look at the head to see if there's any way it can be saved. If not, I'll see if I can find just a replacement take-off head (thanks Brian for the idea).
Another option (thanks George) is to see about getting a bare head.

P&P heads are not worth it at this time in terms of dishing out the extra bucks.

Cam lobe should be fine as the weakest link (valve) took the hit... but, will mention it as a concern to Danny anyway.

Intercooled? Now at this point in the build process? Forget it. I have faith in Brenspeed's tune to keep that A/F ratio at bay.

It's just not plausible at this point.

For a long term project that'll never hit the streets, great idea.

Thanks for the link. I fwd'd this link over to Danny for price comparisons if we end up going in this direction.

You know with all of Bill's most excellent help and passing on of knowledge here some big Sponser should step up or get together and hook him up with an engine. I know if I were rich I'd spring for one in a heart beat cause that's the way I am. Hint Hint !

I wish I was a regular shop! I'm down for a while the day after Ray's install I ran into our HOA president when getting my mail, what are the odds of that sheee, she/it lives right across from my garage. She decided to read me the riot act on what you can and can do based on the CC & R's. While she was yaking I was thinking to myself (beeatch go get laid!). Long story short I have to cool it for a while I think she thought Jed's was a real car garage! I wish I had a freestanding pad so I don't have to deal with crap like this

WTF!!! Why didn't you get her laid?! What did you tell her? Were we too loud? Sounds like typical HOA Pres BS. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that **** anymore! Sorry Jed, time to trade the Roush in for a Prius.

At least in California we don't have to worry about this!

Okay California: CHP, dumb ricers, high gas prices, mandatory hands free phones but we don't have to worry about this...

Bill- I feel your pain. Now looks like a good time to upgrade your "K-memba".

Jed- You should've told her to go fly a kite.

Ray- One word. Rogaine.

Everyone- Happy 4th of July!!!!

No Jed, but I got deer and bear.

"God was with this woman, or she would have been killed instantly in this moose road accident."

I guess God didn't travel with the moose.
