Just canceled my order
This is my first time posting here but I've been a long time lurker on this site.
I just called my salesmen and he had some bad news for me. My Feb 18th order for an '05 Mustang wont be coming in, I had to re-order it as an '06 model year. The time frame for my '06 would have been October. I told no thanks, Ford can kiss my hiney if I'm going to wait another 4 months, (for a total of 8 months) only to get the Mustang to store it in the garage for next spring. Michigan winters are bad and last 4-6 months. It gets me so mad having to wait 4 months already only to be told to wait another 4 before I can get it. :bang:
As you can tell from my user name, I work at Ford Motor Company in the engineering center in Dearborn. I'm so frustrated at Ford right now that I'm thinking of never buying a Ford again. I really don't know whom is to blame, Ford or my dealership. I'm wondering if they got it in already and sold it at a premium price. Or is it Ford putting me on the lowest priority since I was using the A Plan to purchase it?

I really doubt they got the car in turned around and sold it on you. A lot of people have to wait till next year.
I understand you being upset, but the new Mustang is so hot that they had to raise the production numbers by about 50,000 vehicles and even then the demand is just so high.
Also if you waited another 4 months you would only be in mid October. I know it snows early in Michigan but you could still enjoy it until it snows.
As for not buying another Ford product, I think you may be going a little far there
This stuff happens sometimes. Plus if you wait for an 06 they have the new wheel options
By the way, welcome!
The dealership doesn't have to sale a car off the lot for A, X or Z Plans prices. They only have to order a car for those prices. Most dealers here in Michigan do sell cars from the lot at the Plans prices but not for hot selling cars like the Mustang. Which is why I ordered it back in February. Around here you might find a few V6 Mustangs but not any GT V8s.
Have you checked Ebay? Or possibly called around to see if they have one say within a few hundred miles of you. You could have it transported.

I would place more blame on the dealer than on Ford. He should have been up front on the priority of your order when you placed it. I have 2 GT's and would love to sell one to you at A plan but we purchased both from other dealers and need to sell them at MSRP.

I am with joker. You can go to the dealership and buy it for the same price as an employee.
I am also mad at Ford right now because of all the rebates they keep offering. I am trying to sell my 2005 F150 for payoff. I cant do that when you can go to the lot and buy a brand new one for the same price as my used one. When I bought my truck I did not trade anything in on it and I took all the rebates and put them towards the truck to lower what I owed on it.

I feel your pain, I had to buy a '04 because of the $50,00, not that I'm uymhappy with it but I am a bit mad at the dealers.

I understand being upset with dealers, but I'm also upset with Ford for letting dealers get away with things they are doing regarding '05 'stangs....just because they are hot sellers.
I ordered an '05 GT vert in Jan, waited over 3 months, and when it came they dealer jacked the agreed upon price from invoice to MSRP. And this was the guy I bought my new '03 vert from, a new '01 Escape from, and my son bought 3 new vehicles from him. All ordered at invoice or less, and all delivered with no problems. I told him where he could stick the car.
I put new tires on my '03 and decided to wait and cool down before doing anything. Today I looked at a new Vette convertible, but really hate to get one because of the lack of space behind the seats and small trunk. Couldn't carry enough for more than an overnight trip. Had a Vette before, and really prefer the 'stang for a lot of reasons.
I may get an '06, but it sure won't be from the same dealer. Problem is, I've heard horror stories like mine about a lot of dealers who want to make a killing on the hot selling GT 'stangs. A lot of them apparently don't mind losing long time customers over price gouging.
Did I read correctly when you said dealers don't have to sell a car off the lot for x-plan price only ones that they order? When I ordered my 06 V6 pony the dealer would not honor my x-plan. Just curious because I will probably cancel and buy a GT from ISELLFORD at reynolds ford.

Lowest priority for A-plan, very possibly. Have you read the papers lately? ... Early retirements, possible layoffs, the company's hurting for profits right now and if they can sell a Mustang at full price I think you're lucky just to get an A-Plan one scheduled. Eventually you'll be getting one cheaper than anyone else so hold on and wait your turn.

If your ticked off at anyone, it should be all of us who have been and are scrambling for a 2005. It's the supply and demand thing. I know Ford increased production and still there's a shortage because of how popular they are. Be patient, and as others have suggested, hunt the lots. I got mine in Feb. Decided what I had to have and what would be nice to have and asked a couple of dealers to find it. One of them came up with one that they fetched from another dealer 200 miles away. I had it in 3 days.
Good luck.
Like they said, just check around...
Depending on how far you want to go, I know where there are 5 GTs sitting on the lot. Yes, GTs, not v6's with fog lights. two are well optioned, and the other three were +/-. If I remember correctly, all had the IUP.
The dealer is Lasco in Fenton, MI. I am not getting a comission for this, I just want to see a stang lover united with his/her dream. I just wish I could pick up the black one.... ;-)
