Getting totaled
I'm writing this on behalf of and old friend who just had her original, bought by her in 1970 Mach 1 wrecked.... She got T-Boned on the passenger side about a week ago, The insurance is going to total the car. I'm not sure what's going to happen to the car, I hate to see classics crushed but she's too old to take on any kind of long project.
I was just looking for some opinions. The insurance so far is going to settle for 8500... should she take the money and forget about it? or is there another course of action she could take.
1970 Blue Mach 1... 351 Cleveland... SoCal. area.
Thanks for any help... I'll pass it on.

Impossible to know without knowing the condition of the car, motor, etc. Sounds very low though.
Do you know who the insurance co is?

Rebuild it
If it were me or my 80+ year old dad...
I would find a good body shop and rebuild it.
A lot of parts are right here at Dynacorn:

I think the car was in decent shape, although the paint looked pretty tired the last time I saw it. It literally was the old lady with the hot car that just drove around town on errands, she really was proud of her car. She bought it new and now she must be almost 70.
From what I understand, the pass. door took the hit and the roof is wrinkled as well as the pan. Really a shame, she could have gotten a decent price before the wreck, but she would never even consider it. Luckily she wasn't hurt much, mostly just a little shook up.
