save the wave

Hi all, back in the 70s i owned a corvette. It was customary to wave at another corvette owner if you pulled alongside one,or flash your headlights if one was coming in your direction. I think it would be a nice gesture if we all start that trend today. I do it now whenever I see another mustang owner. what do you guys and gals think about this?

Motorcyclists do the wave... well, not so much a wave as a 'hi' kind of hand signal. Mine's two fingers held out, for no reason than that's what I do... kinda a 'peace/victory' thing I guess... Much like Charlie Sheen, we're Winning because we're Riding.

No flashing of lights though. I see no problem with waving, but the reality is unless you can be seen in the car, waving is less effective than on a motorcycle.

But hey, I'll do it.

I am not seeing much from other Mustang owners. I have had a thumbs up from a decked out new RAM pick up driver, and a biker on a Harley...go figure.

The only "problem" I have with waving to other Mustangs is that there are so many of them around here. I could just about drive with my hand out the window. (Not saying that's a "bad" thing.) Also, many of them have tinted windows, so you can't tell if they're waving or not.

I have had a couple waves from others, and always return the favor.

There are too many Mustangs to try to wave. 95% of them aren't really enthusiasts to begin with, so you're more than likely going to get a wierd look.

If I see an obviously modded Mustang I might wave.

I'd probably develop severe arthritis of the wrist if I tried to wave at every Mustang I saw... Don't think the human body can handle that much repetition.

Back when I was in the Army, Mustang owners would always wave at one another. That was about 5 years ago. When I got out of the military I continued to give a wave at other Stangs, but everytime I did they looked at me like i was an idiot!
At first I thought it just might be the area I was in, but I have moved 3 times and each time is the same. I figure that either the military has that special bond, or that being friendly is an out dated concept.

Wink Always preserving the wave

I have already noticed in my latest "overly modified" car all kinds of auto enthusiasts are waving to me, especially Mustangs.

I always try to wave back.
Around here, flashing lights to an oncoming car means one thing: Watch out for what is ahead (usually a radar trap).

Hmm. I would wave at other Marines and other Grand Prix drivers back when I had my car. I suppose I'll keep this courtesy in mind when I have my Mustang.
