Been thinking about Steeda......

I have a 2013 5.0 and live about 100 miles from Steeda and I was checking out their site today and was thinking of buying their CAI and Tune for $699 and driving over there and having them install it for me.

They claim 45hp gain, has anyone purchased this and is the 45hp gain true?

The CAI would be simple for me, Ive never did a tune, how does that work and where does that handheld device plug into?

you have a port under the steering wheel. You plug it in and it loads. almost like a flash drive.

The SCT device plugs into the OBD II port and you download the tune from Steeda. In short ... we take some information from your car and build the tune to those specifications.

Each car will react differently ... if you want to come down, check out the facility, and get your parts installed then you are more than welcome. We can show you what is taking place on the Dyno and we can adjust the parameters and show you the effects.

Email me at tim@steeda.com if I can set you up with a time to install?

Best Regards,

TJ

The 45 HP number is for the 11-12. Ford raised the base HP number in '13 to 420.

Because of this, you will get about 30 with our Steeda Custom Tune.

If I decide to go with a CAI only for now, is there any HP increase at all or is it a waste on money to do one and not the other?

Well our CAI requires a tune so you would need to run both or just the tune.

On the dyno we typically see 9 to 12 horsepower over the stock airbox, mostly above 4,000rpm. A drop in filter is not going to give you any real measureable horsepower.

You will see the most gains with a CAI and tune ... furthermore ... where the aftermarket Cold Air Intake shines is in airflow to support higher horsepower.

And ... our CAI is a very nice addition under the hood and will definitely add to your investment from a cosmetic and performance stand point.

Best Regards,

TJ
