Most of the people I listen to write all of or most of their own music.

I just looked at the one TBP cd I have on my computer and out of 15 or so songs Kimberly is credited with writing 3 of them the rest are written by someone else. The Miranda album I have on here doesn't have the song credits on them, but I do have one of her husband Blake's albums on here and not a single song on it is credited to him. Same with George Strait who is probably the most popular county artist of this generation, at least 90% of his songs are written by someone else.

Hell, the movie Pure Country that he stars in is basically about what I'm getting at. Its all about the performance, stage show and the marketing, not about the music.

Boy, you sure do get defensive when someone disagrees with your viewpoint. Must get that from your dad, I'm the same way.

No comment about George Strait or that movie I referenced?

What do you think of this lineup Nate?

http://www.gulfcoastjam.com/lineup/

I'll be near the area at that time and could make it, but the only thing I really want to see is BBS (I do like a few of the others too, but not enough to fight crowds for), so $140 is a little steep.

George simply doesn't write his stuff and never has. He gives credit to the song writers when he sings them in concert. It's just the way things were for him. Elvis didn't write his stuff either. At least none that I know of. But that didn't keep him fron being the king. It's about your taste I guess. If its important that they write the music you listen to then George Strait isn't for you. But if the person that wrote it isn't good enough to sing it themselves, but the song is definitely worth hearing than why not have a real star like George sing the song so the writers song can get heard?

Doesn't bother me.

Yes I do.

I've seen the movie. I like George Strait a good deal but I'm not a megafan of his like my sister is. Not everyone can write music. Does that mean they shouldn't sing?

Aren't there any women performing? I've never even heard of the ones who are...

If you just want to see BBS and you don't like crowds, it might be best to see them at a smaller venue. At huge festivals like that they usually don't play more than a half dozen songs if that at all.

Well I hate to burst your bubble but I'm not butt hurt and my post didn't convey that.

If the singer has to write their own songs for you then that's fine by me. I don't really care. I'm just saying that there's good songs out there that would never be heard because nobody wants to hear the songwriter sing them.

Its no skin off my nose what you like and don't like.

Awesome, that post has a really irritated, almost pissed off vibe to it. Just what I was aiming for.

Waits for the comeback about how hes not irritated and that I'm so insignificant that nothing like a post from a plebeian like me on the internet could ever create a situation like that.
