Just the whole design of windows 8 is dumb. I don't like anything about it. Don't know what they were thinking.

Was looking at this last night...for roughly the same price as a 15" base macbook pro:

Video Link: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-XPS-XPS15-9474sLV-15-Inch-Laptop/dp/B009FX7BX2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2KICKHQKUA4H8 &coliid=I2XY00KJYXFSWU

Intel Core(TM) i7-3632QM Processor (Quad-Core, 2.2GHz, 6MB Cache)
16GB Memory (DDR3, 1600MHz)
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive + 128 GB Solid-State Drive
15-Inch Screen, 1080p, NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M
Windows 8

Supposedly the XPS 15 has been having issues with the wifi though. It's always something.
Just get that laptop and do a fresh install of windows 7. Be rid of windows 8 along with all the bloat ware a new laptop comes with.

That's not a bad deal. Good specs. But in my experience, windows is so power hungry, that the gains from the processor and 16gb of ram are negated by windows sucking the life out of the machine before you have enough power to actually do work.

That and I could never justify buying a Dell. It's a Dell!

Ya, I have mixed opinions about mine. I like it overall but I'm sick of all the problems I've been having.

Yeah. Like I said, just stay away from the tiles and you'll be ok.

There's an app for that!

I think business versions have a start button.

Is it like how if you hover in the top right corner that "launch" menu comes up?

I'll try this when I get home

Negative. I use an Enterprise version, and it's the same as the others as far as the Start button is concerned. It's gone...

Yeah, same thing. But it's the same as just pressing the Windows Key. Like Scothew said, you'll use your windows key a lot more. "Windows Key + Q" if you need to search for something like a program, device, networking, etc.

I was looking this morning and there are programs that give you something similar to the traditional start button. Another thing I noticed yesterday...are there no controls in upper right corner anymore? The minimize/maximize/close buttons?
