First 18 months the only other person to drive the LS was the valet at my favorite resturant in Dallas. Best part is he always parked it up front with all the six figure plus cars (Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini etc...)

I must be mellowing a little, recently my yougest turned 16 and doing a great job learning drive her birthday present (1999 Wrangler I-6, 5 Speed, lifted with 35's). I asked if she would be interested a spin behind the wheel (I think we know her answer). So under my watchful eye I took her out in the Boss, first trip was to Texas Motor Speedway wide open space and no traffic.

Wife, she can drive a stick but im not letting her near it

Son (21), I have offered but he has decline for fear of liking it way to much and concern if something happens. As for the HP concern his first car was pushing over 400 never had a problem. If you teach them to respect the power and understand the their limits and the vehicles it all works out.

Daughter (19), wants to drive it but has limited skills with a stick. Not offering anytime soon

I had a 2000 600 hp transam that I was selling, very fast car! So this lady shows up with her very young looking son intrested in the car and as I'm telling her about it I can see him practically drooling on the car. I ask her is the car for her she said no for my son. I asked her how old he is and she says 16 and he's getting his license in a couple weeks. I politely told her I wasn't gonna sell her the car she had a fit. I felt bad for the kid but there was no way I could feel okay with turning that much power over to somebody with hardly any experience. I should've took her for a ride and then she might of understood.

I have 2 children. My daughter, now 26, was always interested in my Mustangs. Her first toy from me was a big plastic SVO. We passed on a 97 Taurus as a DD. Since she was quite responsible with the Taurus, I would allow her to drive my 99 GT on special occasions. My son, a year younger, never showed much interest in the Stang. She owns her own 10 GT, which she brought herself after college. Privileges should be earned.

Agreed! Simply keeping it from them and not teaching responsibility is pure ignorance.

I attempted to teach my son to drive my GT when he first got his permit. He was terrified of it and affraid he was going to hurt it. He would only do it in the neighborhood. He got his fox and he then really learned how to drive a stick. Now he gets great satisfaction when I send him to the store in it or if I simply throw him the keys to take me somewhere....

He has even been with me when I have been irresponsible. Situation details not needed. Simply got pulled not 10 second after telling him this is something you should not do..... Officer scared the crap out of him. The valuable part was teach the respect and courtesy one gives an officer... as I simply told him why I did what I did and he gave me a warning. He completely agreed with me and even pointed it out to my son....

Knock on wood. almost two years now.. no accidents and no tickets. Next HPDE at the local road course....

not that this really pertains but i think i've only let 1 friend drive my car, and my mom a hand full of times they both understood i'd kill 'em if anything happened to it.

So if i had kids...def wouldn't let them unsupervised.

Very true! By no means is my kid an angel. Simply scared of me. :-)

My kid thinks I will kill him... that is apparently enough and the fact that when I bought it I told him it would someday be his.... I can count on one hand the number of times my wife has driven it.
