hmmm........first glance the end looks like a tuning peg (for an instrument) but I don't believe the rest has the same shape. Looks like some kind of plug or stopper for something?

I'm gonna give you something to think about for awhile....
Hint..It was not used for plugging up something......and they used it back in the mid 1800's
