New Daily Driver

Picked up a new daily driver, 15 Chevy Cruze....hopefully I won't hear any fighting going on in the garage between the Chevy and the Stang!!!!

Finally got rid of my final black car...no more swirl worries for me.

My daily is also from the General, 2011 GMC Sierra. Truth be told I like yours better. Not actually a fan of trucks.

I just leased a '14 Fusion DD. It's my overnite in the driveway car, my car wash car, my bad weather car, my pet transport car, my Walmart car and my more than 1 passenger car. It's got about 5" of snow on it from last nite while my Mustang sits protected and covered in the garage.

Good luck with yours.

Yeah, my GT has been under a cover since the end of October....I really can't wait for April for when we start to get that rare day in the 50's or 60's to take it out of storage and drive it. Got a great deal, have a GM credit card that had like $800 in rebates on it, they bumped it up to $3,000 and removed the limits you could apply to a new car. They had another $1,000 rebate to apply as well. With my equity ended up getting it for 10,480 (Sticker was $19,695). My other car was bare bones, even had manual windows, no ABS, so having full power and abs, traction and stability control is a big step up.

Ford allowed me to terminate my old lease 3 mos early w/o penalty and gave me loyalty incentives along with a dealer discount since it was a leftover '14.

The Fusion is OK I guess. It's a nice color, the cloth uprade interior and 18" wheels are decent touches but still can't hide the fact that this is really just a boring older persons car. I liked my 2012 Fusion SEL V6 much more.

The '14 gets the job done and it's costing me less per month than the '12. But It's hard to feel the love for a 4 banger 4 door when there's a V8 Mustang sitting in the garage waiting out the winter.

Yeah but driving a 4 banger as your DD makes the Mustang seem even more powerful when you drive it!!!! And the mpg's of a 4 banger helps....

I retired in April '14 so my my DD needs are mostly just local jaunts now. I got my Mustang in May, and I actually put more miles on it than I did with the '12 Fusion. I expect the same to be true as soon as the weather is more conducive to using the Mustang.

The amount of gas/money I save with the new Fusion will be negligible compared to what I spend once my GT becomes my primary set of wheels in a few months.

I actually wanted to lease Focus hatchback instead of the Fusion. But even the SE required a package that would give me 4 wheel disc, ABS, and traction control. I would not drive a car without modern braking. That, along with an interior upgrade would have put fairly close to what I'm paying month for the Fusion.

I am the opposite, I only put 1680 miles on my GT last year after picking it up in Feb (immediately put it in storage and took it out a few weeks later). It is strictly a nice weather car.

What helps is I telecommute a lot so on my old daily driver I only put 12,000 miles on it the last 2 years I owned it.

I actually got a truck because my wife has horses. They're stabled outside the city but we still need to tow from time to time and haul stuff here and there. My sister and I share a family cottage as well and every spring and fall we were either hiring someone or renting trailers to haul junk. A truck just ticks those boxes. The truck lives outside in the snow. Like the OP, my 'stang has been shacked up in the garage since the end of October until the weather gets nice again. My wife has a little Mazda3 sedan that she runs back and forth to work, the stables, etc. I daily the Titanic.

My mustang is my DD :P

If I lived up north again I would have never gotten rid of my 2006 focus zx4 5 speed, thing was a champ and actually was pretty fun push around. I play around with the idea of getting a DD that would fit people... Since my job often requires car tours and I usually have people follow me.. Pain in the ***. At least they get a good view of that s197 ***

I wouldn't mind a GTi or focus st/rs again for my daily and make the GT a garage queen/ project car.
