Like I said earlier, the real saving of the 2007 contract don't really go into affect until 2010+ (hint: VEBA).

The UAW will need to revisit the VEBA agreement, kill the job bank, and cut wages & benefits further for current employees.
26% workforce reduction at GM is not "big picture"? I also said before:

Yes it isn't the big picture? Read the 2007 contract and read up on what happens 2010+. If the Big 3 can survive long enough, they are going to be fairly competitive to the Japanese in 2011 or so.

What we are seeing is that the 2007 concessions are too little too late. It should have happened years ago and we might not be talking about this.

Lastly, the job banks are a joke. GM management was stupid for agreeing to it in 1984.
