To recap: The E63 AMG is faster, more comfortable, more luxurious, larger, rides better, and gets better gas mileage. The Cadillac handles better, is more funtodrive, is much less expensive, has a six-speed manual transmission, and, when we were filming the half-mile drag race, it managed to burn through 15 gallons of gas in 42 miles!

These things are tanks and as indestructible as a 500lb anvil. You could probably smith horse shoes against the fenders they're so solid.

My dad used to have one and got rear ended at a stop. Crushed the front of the car that hit him, the back of the car that he got pushed into while he ended up with a broken tail light and a slight wrinkle in a rear fender (doors still opened and shut like a bank vault). He was hit so hard it even knocked the engine off its mounts (mechanic winched it back on and Dad drove right out of the shop for another 100K miles).

These things aren't even broken in until you see six digits on the odometer. Continental plates wear out faster than these things. Sure, not terribly exciting, but you've just got to admire the engineering, construction and quality of these things, back when Mercedes still engineered and built cars to a standard, not a price point.

Faster ? I found cts-v at 3.9 to 60 and 12.0 in the 1/4 and the e63 was 4.0 to 60 and 12.4 in the 1/4. Seems that whether one is faster than the other depends on the driver.

Besides for 40k less I'd rather have the cts-v and blow that money at west coast customs on a real interior.

Yep. There are so many of them in Serbia at taxi cars, they can last easily over 600,000 km and even more with regular maintenance.

I think it was a great car.
It was ok looking, very luxury and reliable and really economical (40-45 mpg).

Although my personal favorite E-Class was always W114, I liked their looks much better than W123.

I love Mercedes wagons and all but I hate the new E Class anything. Well, that's a little bit of a stretch. But as much as I don't like it, it's perfect for the Mercedes lust wagon. Especially for the middle aged dad. It's ride is supple and is incredibly soft for a performance car. But it actually performs. It's just not my style. That said there are t many great wagons to choose from and it's still a king contender. So as much as I dislike the model, I'd keep it in the memory bank.

BMW and Audi were always about sporty luxury and Mercedes was always as being quiet and comfortable (like European Lincoln).
A friend of my at work has a BMW X5 - that thing rides worse than my F-150, it's very uncomfortable. Unlike any Mercedes out there.

Few older wagons that for some reason I really like. They used to be a lot of them on the streets in the Eastern Europe.

Wartburg 353

Lada Riva
