What's the weather out there for you guys this morning? We started with freezing rain and sleet but it got warmer over night and turned to all rain. Back roads were a little slick but main road were fine.
26 degrees, about 3-4 inches already and slick as snot! Should tear up alot of driveshafts today!

Short throw shifter block kit
Hi Tom,
So what was your impression of the shifter block kit? How did it compare to your MGW shifter? Do you remember how much clearance there was between that shifter block and your OEM driveshaft? By the way, how much snow are you getting?

Hi Robert....
The shifter block is just an add-on part that lengthens the bottom of ths shifter linkage, therefore creating a shorter throw. It works great, but you're just modifying the factory shifter; so the overall design remains unchanged and the normal OEM factory shifter flaws are still present. It's like a $50 part now I think.
The MGW, Steeda Triax, Hurst, or Pro5.0 shifters are all complete, replacement shifters. Installing one of these units means you're installing a completely new piece of equipment, not just modifying the factory piece. These are all much better shifters.... better feel, easier to nail 3rd at speed or under power, shorter throw, etc. They range in price from around $150 to $300.
Oh yeah lastly, we got about 3" of snow here, and nothing coming down currently..... just enough for me to do some reverse donuts in my front wheel drive beater in the parking lot at work.
7'' on the ground, still snowing lightly! had some wind, I just got home spent all night running a snow plow!

Thanks for the info. I think that the shifter block on the Saleen in Hawaii may have been installed improperly and that is why they had the clearance problem. We are trying to determine whether or not we should place an advisory about this on our web-site. Do you think there are many of these units out there?

Are those supposed to be the Bullitt muffs? They look just like Borla's or FFRP's. I drove the stang to work yesterday and I am hating that rat-a-tat-tat I get under moderate accel more and more. I need my prochamber back or a different set or mufflers. And I know they would need to be chambered mufflers to stop that. Funny thing even these Bullitt muffs can only be like 68 db max out of the factory. That's all the Fed's will allow any car to have. I am just waiting until the 15th so I can hear Ben's Flowmasters.

LIkely only on the Saleen cars..... most people buy the dedicated shifter from one of the companies I mentioned above.

Thanks again for the info and input. I see you like the band Tool and list music as one of your top interests. I love rock and roll, even though I'm pushing 50 and my mainstream likes are Hendrix, The Who, Zeppelin etc. I also like alot of newer stuff like Nirvana, STP, Soundgarden etc.
