Revell-Monogram 1:25 2006 GT
but my point was get the actual model glue made for doing clear parts rather then using elmers glue.
Thanks, Chris.
I never thought to check any further about it since I already used the plastic model glue. I just happened to read about the elmers glue after mine was finished. BTW, I can't wait to see the finished modified GT. Competition Orange
metroplex, just take your time and you should be alright. It also doesn't hurt to have an extra model kit incase you mess up a part and need a spare.

I would start with this link for the painting "How To Lay Down A Perfect Paint Job":

Light coats of primer, sanding, several coats of paint, sanding, then clear.
Here is another helpful link on painting "The Basics of Spray Painting":

I also used this one for the carpeting "How To Use Flocking To Simulate Interior Carpeting":

As for the paint, I tried at first with the touch-up paint from the dealership and mixing it with thinner for the airbrush, but I could never get the mixture right. I found this premixed stuff at cobracolors and it worked great. Sorry about the link on the other thread, but I was trying to link it from work and Websense was blocking it. Here is a link for the Vista Blue paint:

And this is for the Clear Coat:
http://cobracolors.com/Merchant2/mer...ory_Code=CC-CL
It's a little more expensive for the airbrush route, but it does make a big difference in the end. I even put a few coats of Zaino on it when I was finished.
Oh, and as for the glue, just use the basic plastic model glue from Wal-Mart. Also, for the clear parts, use elmers white glue. It doesn't give as good a bond, but it will dry clear and not mess up the edges like I did.

Sorry I don't want to read all 18 pages of this thread.
Does anyone have an idea for making a Shaker System for this model? Is there a Mach 1 model that has the Shaker than can be modified to fit?
I have one of these and want to make it identical to my real car

If you can't find any Mach 1 models that work, (or older muscle cars that had Shaker scoops), you can always make one from scratch. Thats what I am going to do for my ducktail and chin spoiler. You can purchase plastic stock from any hobby shop. Its made by Evergreen, and it comes in sheets, as well as strips in various thickness. You can create one using a dremel, and just paint it to match. The other idea is to use modeling clay kit. It is a 2-part kit that uses epoxy. You mold the clay to your liking, and coat it to harden up, and then glue it to the model. This is what I am going to have to do for my ducktail, as I want my model to be an Exact model of my car. I already got the extra big Exhaust pipes, (may make Borla style mufflers too), and have wire for a strut tower brace. If you have any questions on the clay, any good hobby store (not craft store) should know what I am talking about.
