I wrote a letter to the big wigs that run the dealership down here complaining of the non-existant felt in the doors and a few other things that needed fixing. I got a response back in less than a week. Took my car in on wed jan.4. and everything was taken care of free of charge. They had to special order the felt from an outside vendor.A lot of people are complaining about this so they ordered a whole bunch for future complaints. It goes to show that if you take the time to voice your displeasure, something will be done about it. I know a lot of you guys have the same problem,so write those letters!!
P.s. I didn't push the issue about paying for the tint though.

Do you think this will keep the new tint from scratching? Can you provide some details so the rest of us will have something to push? My tint is really destroyed and I'll have to get it replaced in the next month or two; I hardly ever rool the windows down and it's still gone south.

Is this felt applied to the inner window strip, that I can see, or to a guide block within the door cavity?

It not only scratches the tint. It will scratch into the GLASS! My new 06 has a huge scratch in the glass on my passenger window. Totally ridiculous that this was not addressed from the 05 models.

Like Fords computer systems don't show an unusual number of window replacements?!!!

How the heck does Ford NOT put felt on the inside? What are they thinking? It will eventually cost Ford millions after all the replacements and labor costs. Serves them right for trying to cut corners and be so cheap. I'd rather have spent the extra 2.00 for my car then have to take it to the sorry dealer and have both windows replaced. Then get it back and have a bunch of rattles in each door because you know they won't put it together correctly.

WTH

My 05 only has 2200 miles on it, and it already has a scratch in the glass. What a bummer! To Ford: Free felt for everyone!

This felt is applied to the inner window strip that you can see and it will prevent further scratches. As soon as these dealerships get enough complaints I'm sure a TSB will be issued. i'm gonna have to pay for passenger window to be retinted, but at least I'm not stressing about the felt any more. I couldn't find it anywhere on the web

The dealer put felt or something in my windows for free too. AND he told me to get my tint redone and bring them the reciept and they will reimburse me. Sure enough! They paid me back every penny, to have my tint redone.
