Thanks to all of you on this site. Great info. I can't figure when I should order my 'Stang. My dealer said if I order it the way I want it now, I won't get it until around April because of all the delays. Others on this site say 6-8 weeks. I want a GT, Deluxe, 5-speed, Torch Red, IUP, Red Leather, Bullitts. Any suggestions or 'official' info greatly appreciated. I trust those of you on this site more than my local dealer. Don't worry, I'm looking at more than one dealer. Thanks in advance.

If you want it as soon as possible, I suggest you put in your order now! Then you can always troll the dealerships by phone or forddirect.com to try and locate one on a lot somewhere. It really comes down to what you want to do. Most dealers, in my experience, will give you all kinds of song and dance about not getting one until next spring or summer if you order. I would not listen to them! Most are trying discourage you in the hopes that you might by an 04 or something else off the lot. Good luck! B)

Personally, I wouldn't wait until the holds are lifted. The more demand they have, the more Ford knows of how much to ramp up. The sooner you order, the sooner you'll get it! Based on the info on this site, I would rely on what a dealer has to say. Most really don't have a clue or even a guess as to correct info about arrival times. It seems that all dealers are at the plants mercy.

i would go ahead and place my order when you feel comfortable, April does seem a lil long but then again i ordered my stang 10/25 and the dealer told me February. To my understanding the biggest delay problems is the IUP specially with the V6ers.

I don't recall what the name of the dealership is, but there's one in Tampa that supposedly has a few in stock. I ordered mine in Bartow and I live in Palm Beach County.

I have X-Plan, so the only way I could be sure of getting a good deal on the car I want would be factory order. On October 10 I talked to a dealer that told me if I ordered the car it would take ONE YEAR before I would get the car.

I called another dealer a few minutes later and told him what the other dealer told me about a ONE YEAR wait for a factory order, he put me on hold and checked with the inventory manager, came back on the line and said 'place the order today and you'll have it in six weeks.

The order is in and I have my VIN, but my car is in a TEMP DELAY as of Friday.
I talked to someone on another site that checked my VIN and said it's hasn't been built but it should be build within ten days.

Trust me, no one truely knows where these orders are. If you look back on this site even, people have been told, "It'll show up in 1 week" and it shows up that day. Or quite the opposite as well. There was someone here that was giving everyone status on their cars and I think there were a few that panned out. Not only are we waiting on the plant, you have to wait on the rail carrier, and then the railhead. Then you have to wait on the car carriers to get it from the railhead to the dealer. My car sat at the railhead for 4 days before it made it to my dealer. Just too many variable for anyone to predict.

Sounds to me like some of the dealers are wanting to move the ones they have on the way that's why they are putting the orders so far out so you will buy one that's on the way.

I would think that if they do orders and as well as the dealer inventory they would up there sales. But then again maybe there allotment (sp) is used tell after the first of the year and they don't want to tell you that.

If one told me 1 year they would need to help me out the door becuse I find it hard to walk when I'm ROTFL.

Just my 2 cents

If I were looking to order "today" I would be up front in telling them that I want to order on, not take a stock one (unless the stock one fit my desires). I would be very clear to let them know that they have an opportunity to sell another car, not an 04 or one that's in stock. I would probably ask if they have the allotment as well.

The timing will vary from dealer to dealer. The holds and commodity issues are a small part of the delay, maybe a week to a few weeks. The big issue is your dealers availability. Find out when your unit will be pulled BEFORE you place the order. If they have available allocation, they can tell you the exact week it will get pulled. If they have over-sold their allocation, then there is no telling. Once the order is pulled it should take about 6 weeks plus any delays for commodities issues.
