Waiting for rebates on the 2005 Stang?

I'm sure that the guys that Mach 1s in 03 for sticker and higher would never have thought that these "limited production" cars could be bought 18 months later for $6000-$8000 less.
Brand new F-150 went for sticker and higher when they came out last summer. Now I see them in the paper with $8000 off MSRP.
I have no doubt that rebates will appear once all the hoopla dies down. If you can wait, then wait. Rebates will eventually appear. If you have to be the first guy on the block with a new 05 Stang no matter the cost, then buy it.
Just don't get P.O. when you see guys buying a stang just like yours, for thousands less, 8-12 months from now.

My first Mustang was a 1999 GT vert that I took delivery of in May, 1999. I had ordered it at the end of December 1998, and it did not come in until 5 months later (the wait was killing me!). By the time it came in, there was a $500 rebate on it, even though it was the new body style and was a significant jump up in power over the previous GT model.
So my bet is that there will be rebates next spring on the 05's, and dealers may be more willing to give you a lower price then as compared to now. The only questions are, how much will the rebates be, and do you want to wait until then?

FYI:
05 GTOs (closest current competion for the 05 Stang) are already going for $4000 less than MSRP in my local paper.

but the GTO has only sold about 5000 cars when they have planned for 18K
The Mustang will be selling like crazy and will not have any rebates whatsoever, at least until mid 2006.
Ford already has orders for 50,000 - 2005 Mustangs. They will only build about 44,000 of them between Sept 7 and Dec 31, so don't hold your breath for rebates, especially when the Vert is added to production at the end of Jan. 05.
... and don't forget, there is no Recent College Grad rebate on the new Mustang either.
Ford Motor Company - "We'd like to welcome you to the real world, new college grad! We are offering you no break or rebate on something expensive. Again, welcome!"

im putting $5000 down and financing the rest..........i planned on my GT being $28000.....soo any cheaper and id be happy. also since i know the financial manager at the dealer who is my best friends dad/sold us an excursion i might be able to get the car alittle over or maybe even or under invoice.........but i dont plan on that just cant wait till i put my order in

PS: Saw another new GTO today for $6500 under MSRP.
I know I know: The 05 Mustang will be different from the 04 Mach 1, the 04 Cobra, the 04 F-150, the GTO, and almost every other Ford, GM, or Chrysler product I see with rebates in the newpaper every Saturday.
