Thumbs down

I live in maryland where radar detectors are legal. However i drive to school everyday, and spend alot of time in DC and sometimes even Virginia where detectors are illegal. My question is, is it illegal in DC and Virginia to possess a detector or to use one?

i dont know but the point of a radar detector is not to get pulled over if you do get pulled over just buy a better radar detector and let the cop confinscate it

Touche'

If you do get pulled over - simply disconnect it and slide it out of sight!

BUT - if it is a good one - you shouldn't be getting pulled over unless it is for running a stop sign, red light or an illegal turn, etc.

It is illegal to possess a radar detector in VA.

Rags,

Sorry, but I've been out of the states for awhile, so I couldn't even pretend to tell what the best one on the market now is.

As with everything else these days - do a google or yahoo on it, and I'm sure you'll find some good choices. I know that is what I plan to do.

Good luck.

I believe the mounties here in VA actually have "radar detector detectors"...that can detect the emissions from an active detector.

I don't know what the penalty is but those people I know who POSSESS a radar detector don't turn it on until they are out of VA. Others in VA with more info please chime in!

Escorts are very good, so is the Valentine.

Has anyone used the Phaser Jammers? I interested in how well they work.

Thanks

Yeah it is illegal in VA...D.C. AND in military reservations. Valentins are supposed to be good because it has two radar antennas -- one front and one rear -- to scan all around your car and precisely locate each radar threat.

I don't know, but I'd think the penalty for having a radar detector in a state where it is illegal might be more severe than just having it confiscated. I use an Escort, and it works great, but it is absolutely useless if the cop is triggering the gun and you're the only one one on the road and and are speeding by. It does work well if the cop is shooting other cars well ahead of you and you pick it up in advance.

I have seen ads for detectors that are said to be undetectable. Is this possible or just

Its more illegal to get caught going 115. I wouldn't of minded loosing a $2000 radar detector instead.

Yes, they are VG2 & VG3 systems.

I just ordered the RMRC-450 detector/jammer from ebay for $275. Great price.

Yes, instant on is a loser for the speeder. At least with the jammer your good to 50-200' which should give you time to slow down. Plus they will pay for your tickets the first year. With some restrictions?

Anyway my 05" needs the latest & best.
