Just a little side track. There's been a gorgeous Redfire "GT" sitting in a dealer showroom for 2 weeks now. It only has the I.U.P. "Lite" inside. They're asking $26,000 something. I can only speculate that full I.U.P. means so much for a lot of people. I can't conceive this early in production that a fully loaded "GT" would have sat that long without someone grabbing it up.

Wish they coulda been just a little more specific on when they'd be at full capacity again, but hey, I'm just happy to hear the rest of what they said.

I just talked to one of the senior members of Team Mustang regarding the availability of IUP and MyColor. Here's the scoop, straight from the horse's mouth, as of 3:20 PM Jan. 19:
  • Ford underestimated demand of IUP to be 20-30%. The actual take rate is closer to 80%.
  • They are at AAI now installing new capacity. It will be at the new full capacity within the model year.
  • Ford believes they have no liability in the MyColor case with Mr. Weyer, and they are continuing to produce 2005 Mustangs with IUP and MyColor.
  • 2005 Mustangs ordered with IUP and MyColor are being produced as we speak.
whew, ordered mine on Jan 12th and was getting nervous, dealer told me three months which would drop me right into April, which is perfect time for New England.

I ordered an 05 Stang with option 18R. Its dealer built so guaranteed to be made. Scheduled build date is week 7. Do you think if i change it to option 18R to get the IUP it will be pushed back? I just dont want to end up waiting till october when i could get it in March

Thanks, Brad! What a great pick-me-up on a frozen, nasty Friday in DC! Knowing that I may have my GT by sometime this spring will help through the slushy days ahead! Thank you again!

I noticed the price of the IUP started at $405 and jumped to $450. I wonder if it has anything to do with the production miscalculation.

Ordered my GT on 11/30 with IUP. Was notified at that time that the order would be delayed because of this option. I have changed my order for the convertible on 01/20/05. I couldn't have done this without the delay. My original order was picked up by Ford on 01/13/05 but the dealer allowed me to change my order. Things must be moving again for the original order to be picked up.

I ordered my 05 Mustang GT back on Nov 1. They told me 6-8 weeks. As of today, Jan 26, I still have no idea when it is coming. I ordered the IUP as well as the Color Accent Interrior. Any idea how quickly they are producing them now? Four months is a long time to wait However, I know it will be worth it.

My GT with IUP was ordered Dec. 9th, and is being built the week of Feb. 7th. It has been serialized.

Ordered V6 Premium 10/29. Could get I.U.P. after commodity change in Dec. Called salesman last Fri. 1-21. It's built & on it's way. Any day within 7 of 1/23.
We'll see. Hope no more major snow so I can drive her home & down my driveway. If it came a few days ago I'd have to tell them to hold it till the snow clears or is plowed. :bang:
