Are there any "young" people going for a '05?
Yeah well, my grandpa bought me my 1st Stang (67 6cyl) when I was in the 4th grade, so I was either 9 or 10.
Then my mom bought me my second Stang (96 V6) when I got my license in 1998.
I then traded that in for my 3rd Stang (02 V6) in June of 02 straight off the car trailer and paid for most of it myself until it was totalled when a guy ran me over.
I then got a 03 V6, brand new (my 4th Stang) in Sept of 03 & made a down paymet with leftover insurance money & have paid for most of it by myself & it's turned out to be a lemon
I am now, at age 22, getting an 05 V6 as a replacement from Ford for my aforementioned lemon. And will continue to pay for most of it by myself. Although my grandfather is there if I need help. And I will admitt that my mom pays the insurance because it's alot cheaper to keep it in her name although the car is in both of out names. I had to use her xplan for the 03. And besides to keep the insurance even lower I am not rated on the Stang, but am rated on her Ranger & am just down as a covered driver on the Stang. It's really kinda confusing.
Anyway. But have to say that I think I have earned everyone of my Mustangs (except maybe the 67 & I didn't even know about that car till I came home from school & it was sitting in the driveway). Out of my grandparents 4 gradchildren & 2 children I am the only one to actually graduate HS & continue on to college. So they help me more than they rest.
So, anyway I am sorry my post turned out longer than I expected. But Since I got my 1st Stange when I was 9-10 I was just wondering if maybe that maked me the youngest to ever get a Stang? Or are there younger owners out there?

Would you consider this my dad's car?
He'll be signing for it, I'll be paying every cent. I'll be working more then enough to pay for it and more. I'm going to college and living at home to keep costs down so I can afford it.
I'm already paying 342/month for a 02 V6, what's another 100? (yes I know, 72month contract).

I am so glad two people older than me posted... I was beginning to feel like I need to cancel my order, and go buy a Caddy.
BTW, my hubby bought my first Stang, when I was 28. It was a Valentines Day present... well, actually, we both bought it, and with no down, I paid the payments. I fell in love with them when my dad had a Mach I, fastback.. vroom!
At 35, my 05 will have hubbys name on it, but the 99 will be the down payment, and my job will pay the payments.
I was going to give my 16yr old my 99, decided against it.
I have no problem with children driving cars with 300hp... as long as they know what they are doing, do it legally, and dont kill anyone. The problems arrise when the majority of children prove at 16, 17,18,19 etc yrs old, they cant handle it. Which is precisely why the insurance rates for these kids is so high.
Keep your grades up, your tickets down, and your rates will reflect it. I have several neices/nephews who have been very good about driving, they were rewarded with brand new cars. I dont think buying your child a car is going to ruin lessons of responsibility, it can be used to improve those lessons.
My first car was a '72 4 door Rabbit. I had to make payments on it... then found out my mom was taking the cash and putting it in a savings account, which she gave me to use on whatever I wanted.
Have fun kids, just make sure your safe, and dont hit us old people in our 05s, k?

I just realized something... I am going to be one of THOSE people...
You know, the ones you look over at, and think, "how sad, trying to be young by driving a sports car". I remember looking at a 40-50 yr old in thier Vette, or Porsche, and wonder who they were trying to impress...
Now all you kids are going to be looking at me thinking the same darn thing! :P LOL!

I'd rather see it in responsible adult hands, like yours, than irresponsible teen hands, like mine. B)

and parents wonder why kids today are slackers and have no respect for things
and other peoples things
you never appreciate things the same way until u busted ur hiney and earned it
u can never say its your car.. its daddy's car..you just drive it.
the feeling of earning it over whining for it..you can hold you head that much higher
theres a 19 yr old around that drives his porsche SUV like he earned it ..never worked a day..loser

I saw your picture you posted next to that Mustang being worked on.
OMG!!! That's one lucky husband you have!
For those who haven't seen her pics!
Jessica, it is amusing how with good looks and a nice body, you can wrap all the young guys around your finger with just a picture ;-) (But nice to know you still got it, huh?)...
I'm one of the older ones -- 40. And I suspect a 07 Cobra will be the first new car I've ever bought (if I don't break down and buy a GT or SE first). I've bought my wife a couple new cars -- but I always buy myself a 1 or 2 year old as new.
I don't begrudge kids (pre-25) getting new cars, by themselves or by Daddy. My Uncle did that for his kids -- and I wouldn't have turned down my parents if they had offered when I was young. But I take pride that I had junkers until I paid for my own, and now I could pretty much afford any car I wanted. (Barring the couple hundred thousand dollar exotics).
It varies by person, but I do agree with Jessica. I did dumb things when I was young -- and I was generally more responsible than my friends. Heck, when I got my M3 in my 30's, I still got caught up in the moment(s), and have given in to the lure of power (took it to the limiter a few times); down in SoCal as a matter of fact. I'm all for going to the track/driving school, and letting them getting it out of their system. But day to day, the V6 stangs are more than enough for the young.
As for the old -- I think the reason we buy these toys (Vettes and SVT's and M3's) is to make up for what we didn't get when we were young ;-)

20 years old and still don't know what I'm buying.
I don't really need another car (my current Mustang have only 26,000 miles), I just ... want to.
My 1st option is (actually, WAS) 1999-2001 Lincoln Navigator. But high insurance and high gas prices made me change my mind.
I have about $6,000 for down payment and yes, I will be paying on my own. My parents did bough me my current Mustang, but I'm buying my next car by myself.

i'm 25 and getting a v6 premium. I would love to ahve a gt but since i'm just out of college, I got medical insurance to pay for as well as other expenses of living. Guess the GT or SE will have to wait untill I get a solid job lined up.
By the way, for those in my age group who are payign for the car themselves, what are your monthly payments w/ a loan or whatever?

i probably wont get my first mustang until i graduate college in 1.5 years. i'm 21 right now, so i'll be 23ish by the time i get my first stang
got my first car at 18 right before i entered college. it was a gift from my dad and my uncle for being the first one of the whole family to enter a university in the U.S. The car is a $3,500 1992 nissan maxima
then last year the transmission gave up on me
, and now i have a $500 1992 nissan sentra, which was a steal imo!
cant wait to get my boney hands on a Mustang!!! :drive:

Well I had a ranger for 2 years. It's gone now and I still have the money I got from it. I want a GT, and chances are looking pretty good. I've had 2 summer jobs as well, where i saved about 85% of it all. (will need it for insurance)
Now i'm going for an 05GT. It will be mine and my dad's, because he wants one as much as I do.
