Stupid Shaker 500 question ...
For normal audio cds, I believe most cd burning software will allow you to enter CD text for each audio track...
with that rating, it's probably 10-12w rms. So if you put in an aftermarket radio like a Kenwood that puts out about 22 rms watts per channel, then yes you'll definitely and easily blow out your factory speakers. That's why it's never good to be content with factory speakers because they suck! They can't handle the nominal power from aftermarket head units. The second you turn the volume past midway, you've already blown your speakers!
so if you're going to upgrade your system, it's better to replace the factory speakers first.
one of my friends who had a 2005+ mustang gt had upgraded his head unit to a nice 64bit display Kenwood and he loved cranking up his stereo for his hard rock tunes and I could easily tell how blown his speakers were.
Same thing with those shaker500 and 1000 subs...the 1000 subs probably only get about 30-50 rms watts per channel. They might be great for jazz or rock music, but they'll easily blow when you turn it up for hip hop or r&b music!

I wouldn't use sealing caulk unless you don't plan on replacing blown aftermarket speakers. Dynamat Extreme is good for eliminating vibrations. There are other less expensive sound deadening material you can use, but Dynamat Extreme is the easiest to apply because you can cut to shape and stick to your body paneling.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the speakers in the back a set of woofers?
Plus, the Shaker sound system was tuned for the interior of the Mustang in design.
Either way, the system sounds pretty good to me. Obviously not comparable to some ultra-high-end luxury setup, but plenty good. I only have the treb up about 3 notches.
As for sound quality issues...well...maybe a little wax removal would help.
And maybe better music!

Heres a shaker question for ya,
I see that on some of both the 500 and 1000 units, the is a button in the middle of the seek forward and reverse. Mine says scan. But I have seen on some that also have above the scan, text. and the number 6 is different.
Does this unit display the radio call letters and the name of the song playing, or is it the same as the one I have but with the buttons moved around?
And whats with the three chrome rings on the new radios??? It looks silly without a ring around the volume ****. AND speaking of the volume ****,,, Would it kill them to put an illuminated ring around it so one can see it in the dark?

Aside from the idea that you should be able to find the volume **** without taking your eyes off the road, the head unit is pretty well lit. They probably didn't put a lot of ricey bling into the volume **** because it's...well...the only ****...
The text button allows you to switch between different information available to the head unit. Works on both radio stations broadcasting song/station information, and CD's with track information. My '07 Shaker500 has the scan/text button. If it's not there on previous models with the Shaker500, perhaps the Shaker setup got upgraded at some point. ??
Huh? What are you talking about? There's a stock Shaker with chrome rings on it? Mine doesn't have any chrome on it.

Yes the 08 stangs have chrome rings on it... I have seen two different kinds. One has the rings around the Load/eject button, the disc up and down buttons and on the menu button. Now they have a ring on the volume **** also.. It is suppose to tie into the chrome rings on the dash vents.
As for the lighted volume ****, my 05 escape has it... so why not a higher end system??
